Fresh mozzerella
Is that on the 'forbidden' list?
I had a panini with fried eggplant, melted mozzerella, & roasted red peppers...then I thought, maybe I can't eat that type of cheese???

I was told by my DR that it is okay as long as it is cooked.

Re: Fresh mozzerella
It's okay to eat as long as it's pasteurized and/or if it's heated.

Re: Fresh mozzerella
As long as its pasteurized its fine. Most cheeses in the US are - its the imported ones we have to worry about

Re: Fresh mozzerella
I have had it a few times-- I believe it's made with pastuerized milk anyway.
I wouldn't worry about it-- eating it every day when you weren't sure if it was pastuerized or not is a different story, but I think you are fine.

Re: Fresh mozzerella
My MIL called the italian pork store we get it from and spoke with the owner and he said its made with pasteurized milk, so I have eaten it as much as I want! You can always do that so you don't worry!

Re: Fresh mozzerella
It's typically pasteurized. I definitey wouldn't worry if it's heated. Some people avoid it b/c fresh mozzarella usually sits in water, which I guess could still be an issue. You should do what you feel comfortable with. I've had (pasteurized) fresh mozzarella quite a few times.

Re: Fresh mozzerella
As others have stated, as long as it's pasteurized, it's fine. Any time I've gone out to eat, the waiters check for me and one actually told me that restaurtants cannot serve unpasteurized cheese.
Enjoy!
