the doc spoke to my parents last night. He wants to do a full eval on Fred. Of course, in his office and Fred won't go. Maybe I could get him to go.
The doc suggested we get him on medicaid which is a special kind that allows him to stay in the home and get home based services. He is resistant to anyone coming in the home, he doesn't feel he has a problem..that is the brain injury talking. He does know however, that there is something wrong. I think he needs an intervention. Maybe I should video tape it so when he forgets we can play it over for him.
We signed the special needs trust last night to protect his income for community medicaid..that's a good step. I brought him a nice sandwich from a local Italian Deli that he likes and the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated.
Last night he mentioned to my dad that the shower bench is tilted out and when you run the shower the water gets on the floor. Maybe that was bugging him? So dad will fix it today. Maybe Fred will take a shower? I can only hope..it's getting awfully stinky in there.

I didn't push him too much..try not to get him nuts. He says he is bored and does nothing all day yet he won't do anything. When you ask him what he wants to do, he says nothing. He doesn't know, he can't put it together.

Update: Dad went food shopping. He was bringing the bags into the house 6 at a time (go dad..not bad for 76 years old)..and went out to get more out of the car..
when he came back with more bags, the bags he had just brought in were gone. he asked my mother about the bags and she told him that Fred put the bags on his lap while in the wheelchair and brought them into the kitchen and unloaded them. Dad also says he's a bit different.
He was just increased on one of his mood meds to the therapuetic dose..had to ramp up slowly..maybe, just maybe we are seeing some light? Also, he was out of his bed all day too..usually he stays in bed most of the day.
 I really that this is a sign of good days ahead!

today is not so good. But there will be good and bad days. can you imagine that he hasn't bathed? I can't tell you how long because I lost count.

well, I got him to change his pants and underwear and he is agreeing to go to the doc on Monday and PT at St. Charles.
He was in a good mood when I saw him last night.
Mom and dad and I went to the diner for dinner and we came up with some strategies.
The trust is in place, the bank accounts are open and the next step is the medicaid app.
there is a support group being held at North Shore next Saturday that we may attend. I think it will be good for the whole family.

DH did p/t at St Charles. They are great over there. Maybe him getting out for a little while will help him mentally.
I think the support group is an excellent idea!

we tried for this once before but he was resistant to going. Now, he seems to be ok with it.
He is acting better. The drugs are better. He still hasn't showered but he has washed up. I guess not everyone showers..ugh..
Trying to get him to go to the barber for a haircut and a shave. At least he would get his hair washed..
Dad is giving it his best shot. I told him to leave mom at home..she nags him and gets him mad.

dad is setting it up again...schedule, insurance..etc..
I'm hoping he'll go. He said he will . I will see him on Friday and talk to him about it.
I asked dad to set up an email ccount for him on his computer even though he didn't want it. This way, I can write him emails and he can write back if he wants. Same with his kids and friends.
I hope he will..initiation is hard for him...everything is a struggle.
Mom and dad are going to a support group meeting tomorrow night.
Hoping for the best.
