Freddy
Tonight we saw him and he was itching to get out of there! He asked for a Coke!
Of course he can't yet, but he was talking up a storm.
He is getting transferred to a regular room so now we can get him flowers and other stuff. We talked about all kinds of stuff. He's definitely got some trauma to his brain but from where he came, he's come a long way.
The ICU people are wonderful. I will write glowing letters to the hospital.
He's got a long road but hopefully he will participate in his rehab. He has to want to do it. I hope he does.
More tomorrow..going to have a cocktail..

It's a freakin miracle. The admin at the desk said that when he came in he was so sick that they didn't even know what race he was! They didn't think he was going to make it.

A few ideas for stuff you can get him.
Colring book
crossword or word find
the book with two pictures and you find the difference
bubbles
water gun
books
magazines
DVDs (not sure about the hospital though, last time I was in, each room had a tv, radio, fridge and dvd player)
Ipod
just a few things off the top of my head.

I don't know what the new room will have. Thanks for the list. I got him some mags..I would like to do word games with him. I think that will be one of the things he has to re-learn. I hope soon they let him have liquids. He's so thirsty. Dialysis takes liquids out of him. He had more in his foley tonight. I'm hoping his kidneys make a comeback too.
He has his moments when he's lucid and then not so much. With regular stimulation he will get better.
His friend sent a card and a scratch off lottery ticket. We scratched it off together. I was surprised to see that he could handle the quarter. He's on his way.
btw-he didn't win..

Bummer that he didn't win...would have been a great pick me up! Even if it were a buck. I am amazed at how strong you have been thru this and flabergasted by the fight in freddy!
Thanks for being so positive and helping someone else in a tough spot stay postive or not.
There have been days your post have SERIOUSLY helped me and I thank you for keeping us in the loop all the time.

ooh I thought of anothe idea...does he like card games? If he can, maybe those travel games of poker or blackjack or something like that.
