Foxtons
Does anyone have any experience dealing with this company and care to share their opinions?
I made one call to a branch to ask about a house and now I'm getting all kinds of calls about mortgages. Did anyone go through Foxtons for their mortgage? Their deal sounded pretty good but I don't care for the barrage of calls.

Re: Foxtons
Ooooh, there was just an expose about real estate agents on television (I'm in the UK) and Foxtons was featured HEAVILY!!! This woman went to work there undercover and she was told that certain people could afford more than what they said they wanted to spend - Foxtons knew this because they also owned the mortgage company and were told confidental information about the client's finances. There was also lots of forging of signatures and stuff.
Very interesting...! I would stay away.

Didn't Stefanie use them? I don't believe she was entirely happy.

Re: Foxtons
I think Stephanie signed a contract with them, but wasn't told the entire story and wasn't able to get out of it.

Re: Foxtons
Stefanie - I saw your post after I posted my question. Yikes!
What's odd is that I only called them about a house. We never went to see it and since that one call, I've been getting all kinds of calls about mortgages through Foxtons. Weird co. But I'm definitely steering clear.

Re: Foxtons
We went to check out some houses with Foxton's and not only did the rep not come to the house, which we did not like, but somehow the *agent* got DH's SS# and ran his credit....5 TIMES!!!!!!!!! We totally never gave them permission to do that & never would have used them as we were pre-approved through our bank.

I have no idea. He claims he did not give it to them, but maybe when he signed the first offer there might have been a section with that kind of info...
Still I was p!ssed

that's awful! But I bet they own the mortgage companies that keep calling you like the article about Foxtons in the UK mentions, OR they must have some underhanded affiliation.
I called about a property here once and couldn't get a straight answer from them as to whether it was on the market or not, and then they kept trying to get me to see other things - bombarding me with phone calls, emails and texts. In the end I told them in no uncertain terms that I was not interested in working with them.

Re: Foxtons
i have to say that i used foxtons to buy my present home and it worked out well. i suppose it's because we also met with the owners of the house and hit it off that made the transaction so easy and pleasant. i have to say they did try to have us work with their mortgage brokers but we told them no that we would prefer to find our own. that's was just my experience.
