Re: found kittens

Reggie? Any thoughts?

I wish I knew someone but I don't. The least she could try to do is get them fixed (I dont know where but Reggie would, a safe but lower cost place to do this) so they don't mate and have more kittens (when they are old enough). Did she try all of the shelters in LI? How sad, it breaks my heart these poor kitties.

Re: found kittens

I'm having the same issue - we have 4 kittens living under our deck. Can't find anyone personally to take them, and I called 6 or 8 shelters with no room to take them.

I've applied to get some low cost spay/neuter certificates, we are going to buy a trap and TNR them, as many and as quickly as possible... So at least I'll only have 5 cats living under my deck, not 20. Chat Icon

Re: found kittens

I would do a drop and run. Some make think it is a cruel, but no shelter(no kill) is going to take kittens now. Best bet is to get a secure carrier, go to a no kill shelter drop the carrier by the front door and "run". Don't do this at night or in the middle of the day, do it early in the morning(early Sunday is the best time to do it).

Good luck.

ETA- if you see a stray or a feral cat, trap it, get it fixed and release it. THerefore no kittens are born. There are people who can help you with this( you have to pay for the neuter) but it is worth it.

Isn't it illegal to drop and run? Personally I dont think there's anything wrong with it if the cats dont belong to you and you're just trying to do some good. You're preventing the cats from breeding like rabbits and becoming a community problem.

Better than letting them freeze or make more unwanted cats!
