For those wondering if they should take folic acid before TTC'ing
I read in American Baby magazine -
"Folic Acid doesn't just help prevent birth defects, according to new research. Taking supplements (400 micrograms daily) for up to a year before getting pregnant can slash your risk of delivering very early - before 32 weeks - by up to 70%"

wow.. i had no idea about this..
i stopped taking the prenatals once i miscarried.. i guess i should start taking them again?

Thanks for the info. I bought a bottle of prenatals but was going to wait on it. I guess there is no better time than the present!

your welcome. I thought you girls might find this interesting.
Also - the flinstone vitamins have al the folic acid that you need. I was taking those during my first tri bc I couldnt keep anything down and couldnt swallow the reg horse pills.
I didnt take folic acid when ttc'ing. I wish I did!

i dont think it would hurt to take them but maybe check with your doctor. ??

Yes you should still be taking them. I've been taking them for a year and a half!

yea i wasnt too sure about it.. i do go see the doc in a week so i will double check with him
Yes you should still be taking them. I've been taking them for a year and a half!

You should still be taking them....it is good to have them in your system for 1-3 months before trying to get pregnant.

I'm just taking a regular women's multivitamin right now. It has 100% of daily folic acid (400 mcg). Is that enough? I know some docs really recommend prenatals and others say a regular vitamin is ok. My doc is in the latter category which was good because I was taking it anyway and I had heard that prenatals can make you feel  but I want to make sure I'm doing the right things.
