For those who pump- sterilizing question
if you pump more than once a day, do you sterilize after each time or just clean parts?
Now w/ this infection or whatever i have i have to pump all day today and i wasnt sure what to do w/ the parts

i sterilize at the end of each day, whether i pump just once or 3 times a day. i don't sterilize after each pump.

I rinse the horns in hot soapy water after every use then drip dry until I pump again. I throw them in the dishwasher every few days.

I pumped twice a day and rinsed all parts under hto water after each pumping session. Then when I came home I would boil all parts and pack everything up again for the next day.

I put them in the dishwasher every night but the rest of the time I just put everthing back together throw it into a big ziplock bag and throw it in the fridge.....been working great for about 10 months....HTH

i used to steralize after every use... a bit excessive i know but i even steralize bottles/pacifiers after each use...

can i say, i didn't sterilize the pump equipment except the 1st time i used it with my son. i had extenuating circumstances though. i was living in a hotel room in Philly while he was in the hospital down there. didn't have any way to sterilize the stuff, so i washed in luke warm water by hand with detergent that i carried with me all the time. he lived on pumped breastmilk from that pump for months. never had an issue and the hospital never said to do anything differently.

Nope I usually just wash in the hottest soapy water possible or use the medela bags

I was all the parts in the dishwasher after each use on anti-baceterial, which I believe sterilizes.. but I also use the Medela bags like once a week when I remember. Which reminds me....
eta-- I rinse everything in hot water before putting in the dishwasher too.

I used to sterilize at the end of each day. During the day I would wash and place in the fridge between pumping.

i steriliezed after every use for the first few months because i had issues with mastitis... after that i would wash every use in hot water and sterilize every other pump
