it changes each time...
i had about 20 of the same exact matchbox cars. at our first garage sale only 2 sold and then we had another sale and all the rest sold, all gone.

I asked this a few weeks ago and people responded that items such as baby stuff, tools and clothing are big sellers.
I am thinking of having a yard sale myself. DH is like  thinking of the random people who may show up at 6AM though.

Sells:
furniture
clothing
home decor
music instruments
tools
Doesn't always sell:
stuffed animals
picure frames
used items (lotions, perfume, etc.)
Tip: you can sell almost ANYTHING if the price is right 
Don't price too high or you won't sell much. Remember, you don't want the item, you want the $$!

I usually start lowering prices half way through the sale to get rid of things. I havent had a sale in about 5 years and Im having one this spring. About an hour before the end of the sale Im just putting a big sign up that says "EVERYTHING FREE!" becuase I cant stand all the STUFF i have anymore!!lol

total opposite at my g-sales, picture frames went fast, priced at only a 1-5$ and the perfume, lotions and other bath type items went super fast. the little old ladies love the perfumes!!!

yeah, don't put anything at the curb after. people who were at your sale will come and RAVAGE your curb and take everything free!
it's so annoying!
wait a day or two or three until you actually put the stuff in the garbage.....
i am going to try to organize a street long tag sale / yard sale... i am going to put a flyer in everyones mailbox and give them my email address to contact me if they are interested and then post it on craigslist and put up lotsa signs...
good luck with yours! hope you make some dinero!

i think it depends but you will probably get the best results if you can get some neighbors to join in with you. people love it when there is a "multi family" sale. put it up on craigslist too.
