For those who had a lot of swelling
For the past 4 or 5 weeks, I've had a lot of swelling in my legs, ankles and feet. I've also noticed a significant weight gain over this period. I haven't changed my eating habits and I assume this is due to the swelling and my attempt to stay off my feet as much as possible.
If you had a lot of swelling, did you gain a lot of weight during that time too? Was the doctor concerned at all? If you had to go on bedrest or be monitored closely, what other symptoms did you have?

Re: For those who had a lot of swelling
I was due aug 5th with DS and right around mid/end June I swelled up like crazy, that month I gained 11!!!!! lbs. I was horrified, but dr did not make anything of it at all. He said it was because of the sweelling. I did not have any issues other than just swelling up like a sponge.

Re: For those who had a lot of swelling
My swelling in my ankesl and wrists have been increasing. My carpal tunnel is getting worse each day. I guess it's to be expected.

I now wake up several times per night with numb/tingly fingers.
The swelling is ridiculous. My legs from the knee down are very red too. I had to buy larger sneakers b/c none of my shoes fit.

Re: For those who had a lot of swelling
At 37 weeks I gained 6 lbs in 1 week. All because of water retention/swelling.
I had to wear flip flops for 2 months. No shoes would fit.
But I also lost 26 Lbs of the 31 Lbs I gained in 1.5 weeks. The swelling went away fairly quickly afterwards.
Your dr. will tell you if your swelling becomes an issues.
Mostly because it could be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

That's what I'm worried about. My BP was elevated at my last appointment and I had slight traces of protein in my urine. The doctor sent me for bloodwork and said she wants to monitor me. I worry that the large weight gain may also be an indication of preeclampsia.
