For those who eat healthy?
What do you typically eat? What is a healthy breakfast? What is a healthy lunch? What is a healthy dinner?

Re: For those who eat healthy?
I usually eat healthy for breakfast and it goes downhill from there.
I will either eat steel cut oats with almonds or walnuts and sometimes blueberries and a splash of almond milk or eggs of some kind...hard boiled for work paired with a greek yogurt(you have to be careful with yogurt though...a lot are full of sugar and aren't "healthy "...stick to plain and add a few berries ) or if I am home a vege scramble or omelet.
If I am doing a healthy lunch it's a salad with grilled chicken.

Re: For those who eat healthy?
I don't try to eat healthy, but I try to plan my meals around my workout. But basically, my breakfast can be a boiled egg with half whole wheat toast, or plain oatmeal with blueberries. Then, after I work out and if I get home in time, I'll have a smoothie. Either spinach, berries, whey protein; or cucumber and pineapple. I like to mix ingredients and I add flax seeds, just because I read they were good for you.
Sometimes for lunch I have a chicken noodle soup. And then from there it goes down hill, since I cook dinner and I taste here and there and sometimes I don't have dinner because I'm full. But my ideal dinner would be a piece of chicken and some salad with spinach. For some reason I don't like kale that much.

Re: For those who eat healthy?
So to me, healthy eating means trying to maximize the nutrition of the food, avoid empty calories, avoid too much sugar, but have a lot of healthy fats and fiber, and enough protein. So some healthy breakfasts include a variety of fruits (whole fruit instead of juice), oatmeal (steel cut/ not instant / not sweetened), high-fiber cereal with low fat milk, eggs or egg whites w/ veggies cooked in olive oil, cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt. For lunch and dinner, I like a lot of veggies (not too much potatoes or corn).. such as spinach, kale, yams, beets.. ... also all types of of beans for fiber, lentils, quinoa, whole grain bread 3+ grams of fiber per slice if I have a sandwich), brown rice. Salads like romaine and arugula with oil and vinegar as dressing. I like a plant based diet so not too much meat but I like skinless chicken breast or lean beef for protein, turkey meatballs, etc. avoiding hot dogs and processed meats/ cold cuts or something fried like nuggets. Fish is great especially salmon for the omega 3's. Generally everything is cooked in olive oil. Avocados for the healthy fats. Nuts and seeds are great for the fiber, protein, and healthy fats.

Re: For those who eat healthy?
I try to eat healthy most of the time. Meaning at least 5 days a week. all 7 when I’m trying to lose weight.
Breakfast:
1 egg & 1 egg white scrambled with spinach Multigrain English muffin with 1 tbsp of cream cheese or jam
Plain Greek yogurt w tbsp of peanut butter (i use PB2 a lot these days ) in it, a cut up banana and crushed almonds - sometimes throw some blueberries in there too
Lunch:
Low sodium turkey breast American cheese Mustard on light rye bread 1 serving of pretzels or another low cal crunchy snack
PB & Banana on a multigrain round bread w apple on side
Salad w grilled chicken & all kinds of veggies. Balsamic & olive oil
Homemade soup
Dinner:
Usually a lean protein, large serving of veggies and 1 serving of carb (sweet potato, brown rice, white potato cubes and sautéed w onion, or couscous) sometimes salad on side
Salad w veggies and chicken
Turkey chili
Veggie stir fry w brown rice
Multi grain pasta (one serving) w chicken, broccoli and cannelloni beans w grated cheese on top
I’m always looking for new recipes. Skinny taste is helpful when trying to find healthy options.

Re: For those who eat healthy?
"Healthy " to me is a realistic, practical diet not extreme
Moderation Clean/minimal ingredients and processing Do not deprive/moderation Stay within budget (no organic for me)
Ideally all meals should include fresh veggies (half plate), whole grain, lean protein
Snacks should be fruits veggies raw nuts small amounts of fat like cheese
Good fats daily (monounsaturated)
Tons of water Sweets to a minimum
I will go out to eat drink wine vodka beer nachos and enjoy it cause most of our welll being is all in our feelings and thoughts!

For those who eat healthy?
Breakfast: Plain Greek Yogurt, 1/2 cup frozen berries, 1 tsp chia seeds
Lunch: Baby spinach, grilled chicken, any other vegetables I have around, and ranch dressing
Dinner: This is the hardest for me to eat healthy because I'm eating with my husband. I eat whatever, but try to make healthier substitutions (Protein Plus pasta instead of regular pasta), add as much vegetables as possible, and keep my portions under control.

I've tried to start eating a lot more plant based lately. Breakfast is steel cut oats with nuts, banana, hemp seed hearts, and a few chocolate chips.
Lunch I usually just munch on nuts or seeds with raisins, veggies with hummus, or an apple with peanut butter. Sometimes leftovers or pbj.
For dinner we have eaten limited meat and dairy lately. We do chickpea pasta, veggie chili or soups, lots of beans. We have fish probably once a week, salad with grilled chicken, and occasionally beef or pork but I try to do smaller portions than we used to and prepare them with more veggies and less cheese than we use to eat.

For those who eat healthy?
I just eat clean as much as possible which to me means whole foods that come from ground or animal, limiting processed foods, "white foods" (potatoes, white bread, white rice) and fatty meats. I feel like if you eat this way the options are endless, you're just cutting out the junk. I'm not crazy, I definitely eat candy, cookies, pizza, alcohol, frozen foods here and there but I try to keep to 80% clean and workout most days the week.
Breakfast - 2 eggs and fruit or 6 egg white omlete with turkey, veggies and sometimes cheese. Oatmeal with fruit and nuts Whole grain cereal and low fat or almond milk Whole grain pancakes with banana Plain Greek yogart and fruit
Lunch Lean and green meals Any kind of lean meat or fish with lots of veggies Sometimes do a carb but not if I had it during the morning
Dinner is also lean and green and whole grain carb or sweet potato.
Lean steak and veggies and sweet potato Turkey tacos or lean meat tacos Chicken and veggies with quinoa, faro, brown rice, etc Fish Lamb Really anything. Naked chicken parm (baked without breadcrumbs) Spaghetti squash
I am not a big salad with grilled chicken person. I don't really like salad, prefer my veggies cooked. I do a salad maybe once a week, probably less.

Re: For those who eat healthy?
My breakfast, lunch, and snacks are similar each day.
Breakfast old fashioned oats fat free milk peanut butter banana
Lunch shredded chicken with salsa, corn, and quinoa
Snacks vanilla greek yogurt with granola carrots and cucumber pretzels and chocolate covered raisins (not healthy, but oh well!) Apple I usually have a treat after dinner and it is not healthy, but I make sure to be aware of the serving size.
Dinner (varies)
I think one of those most important things is to realize portion size. I started using a food scale in May and it has been life changing.

I try to eat a lot of vegan food. But I also eat a lot of eggs too. I don’t eat meat or fish and try to minimize my dairy intake. Organic raw nuts and beans.
I’ll roast chic peas and kidney beans w EVOO and sea salt, roast them for over an hour and I’ll eat plain or on a salad. I also roast pretty much any veggie. Brown rice and I’ll fill w veggies and also an egg to hold together.
Dairy and wheat inflame the body, doesn’t mean I don’t eat them but I am aware and try to avoid.

Re: For those who eat healthy?
To me, it's seems like healthy is subjective.
Nutrient dense, to me, is healthy.
I sautee free-range chicken over ghee or coconut oil with some green beans, butternut squash, maybe kale or spinach, and some tomato. A little fresh basil, and some pink salt.
I rotate different veggies & fresh herbs like parsley & dill & cilantro. zucchini, & potato. I mix it up. I'll eat any of this for any meal including breakfast. Sometimes I make it all ahead of time, and just warm it up for a quick bite.
But I'll also eat all of this cooked in bacon grease, or duck fat. To some, that may not sound healthy, but it is to me. Fat doesn't make me fat. My body loves it, and keeps me fuller for longer.
I love plantains, as part of a meal, and as a snack. I sautee them in animal fat, coconut oil, or ghee.
I love sliced up potatoes baked to a crisp, with avocado on top, and sometimes bacon on top of that. So good, high fat, and healthy - to me.
I make my own dressings using minimally processed ingredients thrown together.
What I consider unhealthy is processed & refined sugars, refined starches, refined foods.

This is very true. DH is doing the keto diet and the amount of fat he eats in one day is staggering. Like insanely staggering. Like you put BUTTER in your coffee. Yes, butter. Yet he has lost a shit ton of weight on it and is feeling so much better. Blood sugar has dropped a ton as well. And he is never ever hungry and doesn't crave anything. It's crazy The key is very very limited carbs along with the high fat . There is actually a book called- Eat Fat, Get Thin

Isn't bacon considered a processed meat though? Do you worry about the high sodium content and added nitrates? I just feel like bacon, how it's made and processed and what's in it, can't be healthy for you. I could be wrong. There's so much conflicting information out there, it's hard to know what's the truth, as far as health goes.

It's true. You can shed a lot of weight going Keto. I can't claim Keto because I do eat carbs - all found in my veggies & fruits of course. But, I bet I go into ketosis more than I aim to because of the food choices I make. I love potatoes so much. And pineapple. And grapes. So good. I used to put butter in my coffee. I forget how creamy it makes it!

Re: For those who eat healthy?
Oh, this is a hard question to answer. Like a previous poster said, I think healthy is subjective.
I recently lost about 25 lbs from stress and not being able to eat and from medication. My only goal right now is to put on a bit of weight, but to do it healthily. When I weighed more, my main goal was to watch my portion size and to not drink so much. Thank god I saved all my skinny clothes!
What I eat:
Breakfast: A piece of fruit, sometimes with yogurt. I also sometimes have sushi or a piece of whole grain bread with cheese or ham. I’m just not a big breakfast person and sometimes skip it.
Lunch: Leftovers from Hello Fresh the night before.
Dinner: a Hello Fresh meal.
Hello Fresh has excellent portion control. You just need to check the calorie count and adjust accordingly. Their meals usually are a protein, some veg, and potatoes. That’s how it is in Germany, at least. There is a meal once a week that is high in carbs (burger or curry with Naan). I find that it suits me perfectly and I get my nutrients.
Bottom line is I usually have protein with veg.

Yes I could never do it. I mean you can't even eat fruit and some veges are off limits too. But I was so grossed out by the keto coffee until he made me taste it and i have to say, it was kind of yummy! Like a frappucino or something! LOL
I just find it funny how for years fat was the enemy and they came out with all this low fat crap that was actually worse for you because it was full of sugar and artificial garbage instead of fat. Sugar and white carbs are really the culprit of health problems.

Re: For those who eat healthy?
Eating healthy to me is a way of life. I was never a junk food person, I don't typically like to eat crap. That doesn't mean that I don't indulge...even though I'm not big on junk food per se, I LOOOVVVEEEE Chocolate! And french fries might be my most favorite food, but I limit them. And a holiday or special occasion, I will have whatever I might feel like having and will definitely have some cake ( as long as it has chocolate in it, lol) But a typical day is the following and I rotate it so not everything listed in one day!
Breakfast: eggs, all of the egg, none of this egg white nonsense, vegetables - every meal, steel cut oatmeal with blueberries, non fat greek yogurt with berries, Vans whole grain waffles (1) with fresh ground PB on it. Very rarely, a Kashi type of cereal with almond milk.
Lunch: Grilled Chicken, Vegetables, hard boiled eggs, tuna, Salmon or other fish. Maybe once a week boars head low sodium turkey, Low carb, higher protein tortilla wraps, hummus.
Dinner: pretty much like lunch....grilled chicken, salads, vegetables, sweet potatoes, lean steak, Turkey burgers.
Snacks: Quest bars - taste like ass, but you get used to it and they fill you up. Fruits, hummus, Vitatops,Halo Top, Popcorn, Almonds

LOL! They do grow on you! It was too hard to explain that I actually sometimes crave something that I really didn't care for at first. Cookie Dough is definitely may favorite & brownie one is ok too.

The problem with Keto is that once you start eating carbs again, you gain easily because you just add in the carbs and not know how to count calories.
Signed, someone who lost 100 pounds on Keto and gained it all back
