for those who are having/had their shower in someones house
How many people did you have/are having?
Long story short my mom cannot afford for me to have it in a place if she gets no help (from my mil) which is going to be rough to get the help since we haven’t even gotten our wedding gift from mil yet. I will probably have 50 people at my shower if I cut it to the bare minimum of people who I have to invite. My shower is 3/26 so it is one of those dates where it can be nice out and everyone can be outside or crappy out and everyone has to be inside.
Just wanted to get an idea of how your house shower was

Re: for those who are having/had their shower in someones house
We had a great shower at my FIL's house! Mine was all indoors (it was January 8th), and we had a little less than 30 people in an average-sized house. The layout of his house is a little weird though and he has a lot of big furniture. We probably could have had 10 or so more people and would have been fine.

Re: for those who are having/had their shower in someones house
I invited 45 people and I think 25 came. We had it in my house, but I have a very open floor plan so people could be in the kitchen, living room, or even sitting on the stairs. We set up the "paint the onesies" in the dining room, so people were everywhere, and they milled around while opening presents (we did bingo to keep people involved) and there was a TON of food! It was great! I'm so glad we did it at our home!
I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter what you decide!

Re: for those who are having/had their shower in someones house
I had both of my bridal showers in houses. The one near my in laws (in TX) was in June and it was mostly outdoors with some people inside there were about 30 couples there so about 60 people. The one in NY at my parents house was in August (and hot) it was mostly indoors, but she had tables set up outside too. I had about 50 people there.
My baby shower will be at my mom's again (she really likes hosting things at home) and the invite list is about 55 people, so I'd say about 40 people will come. It will be all indoors since it's March 12th.
Space wise my parents have a pretty big house. My mom usually moves the furniture from the formal living room and puts cocktail tables in there and leaves the furniture in the kitchen and in the den as is. She serves food buffet style from her dinning room table. It works pretty well in their house because the floor plan is pretty open and everything flows from one room to another so people don't feel closed out if they are in the den or living room.
I've been to a ton of showers in houses and it works well. I wouldn't stress about it. Try to keep the food in a central location and have an area to sit and open gifts. The biggest issue I noticed is seating having enough couches, chairs, and what not. My mom usually moves the dinning room chairs out of the dining room and places them around the house so that they are there for people. She brings in extra chairs if we have over 20 people coming.
Sorry for rambling!

Re: for those who are having/had their shower in someones house
I have pictures of my shower in my album. We had it at a friends house to save money as well, and I helped throw it. It was in July so it was hot out but the weather was perfect. We had about 30/40 people, I can't remember exactly.

Re: for those who are having/had their shower in someones house
my shower will be at my MIL house and we had my wedding shower there too. For the wedding shower we had like 30 or so people and it worked out fine. She does have a bit of an open floor plan so that helps but people mingle, family help in the kitchen, the main time everyone is in one spot is games and presents and friends were kind enough to sit on stairs/floor or stand and let the older women sit.

Re: for those who are having/had their shower in someones house
I think we had about 30 people, it was at my parents house. I liked it SO much better than showers at "places." We didn't play games or anything, everyone just talked and we opened gifts. We also had some men there, including my DH.
