Having baby shower at your own house?
Ladies,
What's your opinion on having the baby shower at your own house? My mom is hosting my FL shower and was planning on having it at her house. DH thought it would be nice to have it at our house - more room plus since we're just moving into this month - it will be a chance for people to see new house. My mom just felt it was kind of weird to have shower at "honoree's" house.
Your thoughts?
Thanks!

Ours is at our house. To be honest I wouldn't have it any other way.

I wanted mine at our house but we need repairs on the main bathroom and knew it wouldn't hold up to as many people as would have been there

I've been to baby showers that were at honoree's house. Actually, it is easier on the expecting couple, don't have to move the presents too far!

Mine was at my house...it was great. My DH loved that he didnt have to load the car and lug all the baby stuff.

Mine was at our house. We were in a similar situation, we had just moved into our new home in June so it was an opportunity for everyone to see it!

I think its a great idea and agree with the others - you wouldn't have to lug everything back to your house!

Re: Having baby shower at your own house?
Mine is at my/Mom's house (We have an apartment in my parents house for now) and my cousin's was a surprise and we had it at her house when she was prego......I am so happy it's here for two reasons 1.I have lots of family from outta state so they can hang out for a bit afterwards 2. People can see the nursery and all the work DH has done. 3. Easier on DH to move gifts.

Re: Having baby shower at your own house?
We did ours at our house and it turned out really nice! It was also a lot cheaper than having it elsewhere. I also liked having it a little more informal at home and where I was more comfortable. A lot of my college friends came from out-of-state and they spent the night. It was a lot of fun to spend time with them afterwards. We also had guys and significant others at the party, but DH took them down to the basement where they played poker while the women were upstairs being silly with shower games
