For those having major troubles sleeping

I have been like a zombie lately going through insomnia just like my first trimester. I was only sleeping about 10 minutes of every hour.
I finally called the doctor the other night I was so close to tears and he suggested benadryl to make me drowsy (I had asked if I could take 1 tylenol PM)

1st night - worked pretty good - got some sleep, at least more than I had been

2nd night - back to no sleep yet again

3rd night - only woke up about 4 times for the bathroom

last night - again, only woked up about 4 times for the bathroom

I am so happy to have had some sleep!!!! Chat Icon

Re: For those having major troubles sleeping

I have taken the occasional Tylenol PM in the past week or so because of back pain and not being able to sleep too... also getting up to pee 12 times an hour doesn't help either... Chat Icon

11 weeks and 5 days to go...

Are you going right back to sleep after the Tylenol PM?

Re: For those having major troubles sleeping

I have definitely kept the tylenol PM bottle by my bed! Usually there is some ache or pain that the tylenol can help and within 30-40 mins, I'm back to sleep.

I'm there w/ you too, but thankfully I'm not working these days.

I do find when I try to make it later...11-12a.m. I sleep through the night, w/ the exception of 3-4 bathrm breaks, but if I go to bed by 930/10pm I'm up & tossing/turning.

Re: For those having major troubles sleeping

I've been taking Unisom - since Tylenol and Benadryl treat other things besides sleeplessness and I didn't want the extra medication. But I DID want to be well rested in case I went into labor - HA!!

Anyway the unisom was OKd by my OB and has worked like a charm!!

I took one Tylenol PM for a headache a few weeks ago and slept like a baby. DR said that it was ok.

Re: For those having major troubles sleeping

Feel better, Donna!!!!

I tried Tylenol PM before pregnancy. I would get a bad hangover. Anyone else with that problem?

I get a similar hangover from Benadryl but I had to take it twice since pregnancy, due to allergies. At that point, the relief was worth the hangover.

I have some Ambien left from an old prescription. Neither my GP nor my OB/GYN will give me the okay to take it. I looked online and some sites say it is category B and some say category C.
