How do they eat it.. Do you spoon it in or do they pick it up.
My problem is DS wont take anything beside yogurt from a spoon...little mr. independent only wants to fee himself..so I haven't even tried rice. Should I take the plunge and just put a huge tarp down and give him rice to throw around?

I mix the rice in with whatever he is having and let him go to town. Usually he'll pick it up in "bunches".

Hmmm...thankfully DD still lets me feed her so she'll take rice from a spoon. If it's the only way he'll take it, I say go for it. Just do smaller amounts so you don't end up with a fistful of rice on your floor .
I think a tarp is a good idea though

Eliza STILL (at 23 months) shoves it in her face by the fistful- even though we provide a spoon.
Thank goodness we have a dog.

It's SO messy but DD eats it with her hands... it's the only way she'll eat it really. Sometimes I can get a few forkfuls into her if she's distracted but she mostly just wants to do it herself.
