For DC who just started whole milk recently....
How many times a day do you give them milk, and how much each time? Are you still using bottles or sippies?

1x a day, they use a straw sippy. I think it is 4-5 oz in the cup, but they don't drink it all.

are you still giving BM?
My ped told me to give anywhere from 16-24 oz a day of whole milk. DD is drinking about 22 oz a day of whole milk, plus about 4 oz of water/juice a day. But I dont want her to drink instead of eat, kwiM? She likes her beverages still..so I was curious what others were drinking. I am giving her a sippy for am/afternoon and evening drsinks, but a bottle in the pm. I am sure she can go to the sippy but I didnt want to fully take away the bottles/rush her.

Yes, I am starting to wean them now, they are just over 11 months. They BF in the morning when they wake up, get milk with lunch, BF after nap #2, and then get a bottle of formula at bedtime.
In another week or so (when they are 11.5 months), I will cut the nursing session after the second nap, and give them milk instead.
When they turn 12 months, we'll cut out the night time bottle. (and replace with milk in the sippy) I plan on continuing to BF them in the morning.

Re: For DC who just started whole milk recently....
I'm starting after our trip, he gave us the green light last week, but she was sick and then we're leaving on vaca so didnt' want to throw another curve ball at her...he wanted her at the same amt of ounces as your DD...I will be giving it to her in her sippy as she's on the sippy now for formula, but, I'm going to play it be ear and see what I'm going to do for the bottle before bed time..I'd prefer her to be completely off the bottle, but she's very "attached" to the last bottle before bed, so I'm going to try it with the sippy and if it doens't work maybe stick with the bottle...

I also have kept the night bottle...I feel she needs that for a while (maybe it's just me, not her, but she does still try to suck the sippy the same way as the bottle...). So think she needs it a bit....

Re: For DC who just started whole milk recently....
My kids will drink out of sippys but I haven't made the full transition. They usually get one sippy and 2 bottles. I am worried about calories for Ronan and have them both on rice milk right now because of bad reactions-they had diarrhea for about 2 weeks when I had them on dairy and soy

Re: For DC who just started whole milk recently....
We just started DS on milk this week. He is still getting 3 bottles a day. He was getting approx 24 oz a day of formula. I started giving him 7 oz of formula and 1 oz of milk and have gradually decreased the amount of formula. He is NOT a good eater so I'm sticking with the bottle until I see that he is eating better. He will drink water from a sippy.
