Re: For anyone who rushed to buy an iPhone

I'm not surprised - I would never ever rush to buy the 1st model of anything - especially anything by Apple - they are always coming out with newer, better models of things - I mean - remember the 1st Ipod?

While that is very true, the price of an iPod never dropped so dramatically within 2 months of its initial release, regardless of which generation of iPod.

That would be I...although I look at it as I paid $100/month to look cooler than everyone else :)

Yeah... but at the same time, would you categorize someone who slept overnight in front of a store to buy a phone "cool?" Chat Icon

Well, I didn't camp out, so I need not worry about that ... But I do know people who did...I can understand why they did it, although I wouldn't characterize it as cool or not...

I think that if you bought it within 30 days you can return it, pay the restocking fee of $50, then exchange it for a new one for the new price...in essence saving $150 per

The iPod touch can't make/receive calls, so it's not really a substitute for the iPhone.

I just spoke to a friend who is an AM for Cingular and he said they are refunding the 200 to people that bought the phones within the last two weeks.

Some people were smart, they waited on line and then sold them for an even higher price to people who wanted them even more.

And then there are those who bought them in order to open them up, figure out how they work, and create a whole line of accessories for them.

Re: For anyone who rushed to buy an iPhone

its not about being smart and waiting. if something comes out and you want to get it why should you be punished by those who criticize your decision to by it. my husband got his for his job and i got gc's from people to the apple store. i wanted the phone since my old phone broke and i think its a great phone. im upset becuase thats 400 dollars we could use elsewhere. becuase apple isnt selling as many phones as they want they dropped the price and pizzed off a lot of people. customer loyalty isnt going to be the same for those that got screweed!

Re: For anyone who rushed to buy an iPhone

since Apple introduced the Iphone at that price, people were saying that it would inevitably drop, which is has, significantly.

Steve Jobs was test marketing...he knows he laid the golden egg with this Ipod stuff...he knows people LOVE them...he just wanted to see how much...

clearly it wasn't as much as he had hoped, so he lowered the price. I am not surprised by the price lowering, but by everyone else's reaction to it...since like I said, it was seemingly inevitable.

I mean, they sold 100 MILLION Ipods. that is a staggering amount. he is running out of people that DON'T own one already. he had to do something.

Re: For anyone who rushed to buy an iPhone

I know people that happily paid their early termination fees with other service providers just to be one of the first to have the iPhone - they just considered it part of the cost of the phone, period. I think the people who paid the original price should just see it that way - they paid a little more to have it first. Like Ophelia said, everyone knew the price would drop eventually so... those people essentially already knew they were overpaying for it, kwim?
