For anyone "on the fence" about Patchogue

I'm looking for a home literally between Eastport to East Northport and all towns between each shore.

Anyway, I heard from another RE (who is not my own & had literally nothing to gain from telling me this) that Patchogue is really a big up&coming area for young "hip" families; that she has seen a great interest in the area for first-time homebuyers who love the village feel.

I've seen a lot of cute areas in Patchogue, and just wanted to spread the word.

There are a few Patchogue people on here that rave about the area!

I lived there for about 5 years and you definitely get more bang for your buck. Main Street has everything you could ever want and there is so much to do.

You will find that people who have NEVER lived there will have negative comments based upon what they hear on News 12, but anyone I have known to live there loves it.

I really like Patchogue - My DH is not a fan and didn't even want to look there at all. I have several friends who live in Patchogue/East Patchogue in very nice areas and love it there. In fact both were raised in South Country Schools and chose to raise their families there also. HTHChat Icon

I love Patch. and if it wasnt so far out I would have been on my list. There are some amazing old Victorians that are fixer uppers that I would love to get my hands on.

My friend grew up there and her sister just bought an adorable house there on 3/4 of an acre. She got an amazing deal too, they're really excited about it! She's been telling me about it for years and I've never spent time there.

I don't know the area, but I know someone who recently bought a home there and raves about it. She also said she got more bang for her buck, has a huge property with trees all around and it's completely hidden and private.

Re: For anyone "on the fence" about Patchogue

Yes patchogue is a great area!! But is does also have some not so nice area's to. I grew up in Patchogue my parents still live in Patchogue Roe Blvd area and the house next to them is for sale!! Great home and nice neighbors!!
MLS Number 2273852

Don't forget also Davis Park Ferry is right in Patchogue to get to Fire Island and Watch Hill

If you want to know anything about Patchogue please FM me!!! My brothers and I all graduated from Pat-Med. Older brother has his law firm on South Ocean Ave and also still lives in Patchogue. My Mom actually grew up on the same block two home over from when she was a kid so she knows all the old timer patchogue residents and history of the town!!

The town has turned around over the past few years but the school district is a total mess.

Last time I looked their rankings were in the bottom 50% for the state

Patchogue has improved a lot over the past decade. The town is really nice looking now. Some areas are still not so nice but you'll find that with most towns on LI.

Re: For anyone "on the fence" about Patchogue

IMO:
We live in Patchogue (renters). Main Street is super cute, but thats all I can say. If you drive around after high school lets out there are kids all over the streets yelling rude comments. This is every night. The school district is nothing to brag about anymore. It was once really nice but not now. If you really drive around Patchogue it is mostly NOT nice. I would never buy here or send my children to the school. After you drive past the cute part of main street keeping driving & you'll see what I mean.
This was once a beautiful town with peoples summer homes. Many of those victorians are still here but times have changed.
There is a Walmart coming soon (great...) There is a lot of low income housing. Some is beautiful town-homes. The rest is these ugly Tiffany apts.

On the other hand we LOVE LOVE LOVE Blue Point. It's breath taking. We walk to the beach (Corey) almost daily. We live on the edge of Blue point.

Just drive around & make your own decision. Also drive by the school when it lets out.

Re: For anyone "on the fence" about Patchogue

I know someone who bought new construction there for the low-range $300's! Something I didn't think was possible on LI.
