folic acide intake

anyone hear to not over do it?? like take a prenatal and then load up on spinach, collard greens and fortified cereal?

anything about too much folic acid is detrimental to developing brains? Chat Icon

google really is the worst thing when ttc... theres soooo much conflicting information....

How much folic acid is in your prenatal?

My dr told me anywhere between 1-2 mg is enough.

I don't think you can over due it.

folic acid is in a lot of stuff... i wouldnt avoid foods that were high in it... but i also wouldnt go out of my way to eat more...

that's what i was thinking too.. seriously everything is fortified with folic acid now..

all you need in a pregnancy is 400mcg

some PNV have 400mcg and some have 1mg

you can take your PNV then eat all you want. Now if you were taking a PNV, AND a folate supp, that would be even more that you are getting.

I take a prenatal and an additional 800mcg in Folic Acid. I have other health related reasons behind all my vitamin consumpation. My best advice would be to ask your Doc what would be best for you!
