Re: Flying With Kids

I pay for my youngest to have his own seat. I bring their car seats onto the plane and I strap them in, just like a car ride. I give them snacks and the ipad. They are good to go!

Flying With Kids

We flew when my DC was 1.5. It was a 4 hour flight and we bought the extra seat. She has always been very active and we knew that she would get fidgety. We also didn't want to bother someone else in our row, since the seats are 3 in a row. In your case, your daughter will have her own seat, so like you said, they would be small enough to share a seat. Just lift both arm rests up and you guys will have more than enough room

Flying With Kids

DD has flown all over the place; FL at 10 wks, Cali at 5mo and AZ at 10mo (and we're hitting up all those same places again this year, DD is currently 14 mo) and she's always flown as a lap infant. Although it's gotten progressively more difficult as she's gotten larger and more active, she's been a great flyer.

I know she would NOT do well if we bought her a seat and had to put her in the car seat though, she'd want to be in our laps.

We're going less than a month before DS turns 2. We decided to buy him his own seat. I'm hoping he'll actually sit in it.

This is a child/age dependent answer. At 6mo, 2, and 2.5
DD would be fine as a lap infant(i know at 2 you need a seat anyways). At 1.5 hellz no would I have gone on a plane without her own seat. Even in the seat she cried for the 2.5h flight. It's the age where she was just learning her independence. So it's really up to your own child

For safety reasons I would also not take the risk especially with these "minor" incidences you keep hearing about. If the plane was to suddenly change altitude, or a tough landing you have a baby in big trouble. You won't be able to hold on and the ceiling is pretty low over your head.

Not trying to question anyone's judgement but flying makes me nervousLap infant

For an infant if you cannot afford a seat you can get this Infant harness but it is not FAA approved for takeoff or landing.
