Fluoride or no fluoride??
My ped gave me a prescription for fluoride--to give him once a day. I have heard mixed things about fluoride. Has anyone's ped said anything about this? Opinions please! TIA

I've had Roman on it since 6 months. I never heard anything bad about it. I'd be interested to hear opinions.

Re: Fluoride or no fluoride??
Our doc and ped dentist(we saw prenatal) both disagree with the use of fluouride before age 5. The ped dentist doesn't even recommend kiddy fluoride toothpaste until they are 8 years old.

Re: Fluoride or no fluoride??
I am kinda torn on the subject. As a dental hygienist I see ALOT of fluorosis in children (it's basically an overdose of fluoride making itself evident in the appearance of the teeth through white spots & mottling). I did several papers on this in school and while I can honestly say the positives outweigh the negatives, it still concerns me. I decided that I want my DD to get fluoride just not everyday as prescribed. So I skip days. You can research fluorosis or ask your dentist at your next appt what they think. Just my $.02......

Re: Fluoride or no fluoride??
Emmas ped dentist told her to brush with floride toothpaste every other day. And only at night.
Jeremy on the other hand has decalcification of his top front teeth and she wants him using a smaller than pea sized amount 1x a day of prescription toothpaste. I don't know if I am comfortable with that though. He eats it. I don't want him getting too much and damaging his perminant teeth.

yes same here. When I was younger I was on floride and it actually damaged my teeth. Sounds weird but ...true.
