I don't use toothpaste with my 1 year old...my 2 year old uses a kids training paste, but it was really just to bribe her to let us brush her teeth!

When DD had two teeth, I started brushing her teeth twice daily. I use Oral-B's toothbrush and fluoride free toothpaste for babies 4 months and older. DD doesn't mind it. At first I used the finger brush, but then DD started chomping on my finger so I switched to the very soft toothbrush.
FYI: I do not recommend using Gerber 'Grins and Giggles' set. The toothbrush bristles are waaaay too hard.
I used this one first:
And now I use this one:

Re: Fluoride free toothpaste for DC around 12 mths?
We've been using the baby toothpaste with no fluoride since DD got teeth at 11 1/2 months old. My DD LOVES getting her teeth brushed. We do it every night after dinner.

I saw the Grins and Giggles and thought it looked too adult brush like so I didnt buy it, glad I didnt!
But do we need to use the Fluoride free toothpaste or is water alone ok? When does someone need to start with the toothpaste?

Flouride free one I was asking about, they can't use the flouride one at all until they know to spit it out.
