flu shot for infants?
Hi all,
My ped recommended the flu shot for my 10 month old- she is not in daycare.. did anyone's infant have a reaction to the flu shot, or are you not getting one? Since it's her first one, it would be given in 2 parts, spaced 1 month apart.
TIA!

Re: flu shot for infants?
My dd got it last year when she was 10 months old as well. She was not in daycare either, but we opted to get it because we thought the benefits out weigh the risks. She had no reactions and will be giving it to her again, as well as our DS when he is able to get it at 6 months old.

Re: flu shot for infants?
My 6.5 month old got his 1st dose & we'll go back this month for the 2nd dose. The only reaction he has to shots is slight fever and cranky/crying a few hours after the shots...then he's fine after a dose of Tylenol. This seems to be his reaction to all shots, not just flu.
My DD got her first flu shot at 6 months as well. And DH & I get one every year too. No reactions and no flu. :)
I'm SAHM and neither child is in school/daycare. But we go to library programs, art class and dance class. To me the benefits outweigh a possible side effect.

we did not give my kids the flu shot that young - but got it the following year. My husband, myself and my mom (who watches the kids) all got the shot. I am not against the shot - just didn't like it or thought it was needed that young and not in daycare or anything.

I did not. She's been in daycare since 4mos and never had the flu.

DD got her first dose around 6 months and her second a month later. Her only reaction each time was that she didn't sleep well the night of the dose. The same thing happens to me when I get it but it.

We did it for the first time at 12 mo. It was 2 doses 6 weeks apart. No reaction in either of them.

My son got it the year he was born; he was probably 7 or 8 months old. No reaction at all.

My kids don't get the Flu shot and both go to day care. We do other things to boost their immune systems such as a daily probiotic and supplementing with Vitamin D.
