no you dont NEED one. They recommend it for the 3rd trimester ladies since I think some of the antibodies will be passed to the newborn. I think...

I just asked my doctor about this at my last appointment and he said that while the American College of OB and GYN recommends them - he personally wouldn't get ot because there is a lack of research in the area. He said its my decision and I can certainly do it but that was his personal opinion. I am sure there are a lot of different views on this.
Anyway I decided not to get it.

I teach high school and get one every year anyway.... too many bodies and way too many germs in and out of my classroom every day.
I will be getting one in a few weeks.
