My doctor told me about getting the flu shot. I'm due late November. Hod do you ladies feel aboutngetting the flu shot?

i teach in the city. not taking any chances being exposed to all those little buggers. have heard enough horrible stories of complications with flu... getting my flu shot tomorrow.

I have only gotten the flu shot once in my life when I worked in a nursing home. I keep reading that pregnant women should get one and my doc told me I should when I asked about it the other day. I wonder if he would have told me if I didn't ask. I'm thinking that I might go get it next week just to be on the safe side.
Does anyone know if other family members should get it to? Obviously I know people should get it, but I didn't know if I should suggest thatl DH or the grandparents get it too before the baby is here to keep exposure to the flu to a minimum.

I personally think it's unecessary. I never got it before becoming pregnant, and I didn't get it when I became pregnant during flu season.
Never got sick.

I will definitely be getting it. I got the regular flu shot and the swine flu shot during my last pregnancy too. I did a LOT of research on it before getting it and came to the conclusion that it was definitely the safest decision. The potential risk for the developing baby should you contract the actual flu is FAR more dangerous than any potential risk from the vaccine. Not to mention, the baby can not get a flu shot until 6 months old, and he or she lives off of the mother's immunity for the first 6 months of life. So if you do not get vaccinated against the flu, neither you nor the baby are protected. It was a no-brainer for me.

ITA. I have gotten it in the past with no issues, so I feel totally comfortable getting it again. I didnt know about the husbands getting it though. I highly doubt dh will get it.

i got for the first time last year b/c we were planning to TTC during "flu season".. now that being said, I'm due during flu season, and I think I might wait until the baby is born. All the adults that wiill be around the baby will be taking the shot, so it will be kind of cocooning him/her.

I got mine for the first time at my Ob's office yesterday.
You can request mercury free, like I said, I've never had a flu shot before but I don't want to take any chances with my baby. I want to help myself stay as healthy as possible in anyway I can.
My Ob recommended DH definitely get one.

Same here.
I'm kind of surprised I didn't get one at my dr appt yesterday but, I will definitely be getting one next month. I have an appt for DS to get his as well and DH gets
