Flu Shot

I have never received a flu shot in the past and am wondering now that we are TTC'ing, that maybe I should. I am a teacher and therefore around sick kids everyday.

How many of you are getting the flu shot?

I got a flu shot but to be honest if you have NEVER gotten one I don't recommend it. Usually when you get it the first time you get sick with flu like symtoms. Sorry!! I say if you get preg in the next two months then get it to be safe. But otherwise not while TTC.

I didn't get one and I'm also a teacher.

Of course it's personal choice (and you would think I would have learned my lesson from last year when I got the seasonal flu AND a probable case of swine!) I used up all my sick days.........


I asked my regular dr about this and he suggested the seasonal flu shot only if I am going to be in the 3rd trimester during flu season. My OB recommended it either way.....



Ultimately, you just have to gather info from every direction and choose what's best for you. In the meantime, stock up on Clorox wipes, Lysol, hand sanitizer, etc in your classroom. Also, talk to your kids about proper hygiene! My kids are in middle school and trained to run their butts over to the hand sanitizer every time they sneeze!

I just went for my yearly physical and told my doctor that we would soon be ttc...she suggested a flu shot so I got one. I am also a teacher so I think it was a good idea. It was my first time getting a flu shot and I didn't have any side effects.

I already got mine, and I'm I can get the H1N1 vaccine before I get my BFP!
