Flex spending... Need help figuring this out

With my last job I did flex spending. I was given a debit card to use for the Ped visits or daycare. At least that's what we figured we'd use it for.
Well, I left my job the end of May. We called recently to see the balance and recording said I had about $84 left. Figured before the end of the year I would call the Ped and give them the balance of what we owed their, which was around that anyway from a couple of recent sick visits. They said it was denied so when I called the 800 number on the back of the card the woman said I can't claim after May 25th. Does that mean I lose the money that was mine already?

Yup, anything you don't use is lost.

PS - Can you use it for over the counter meds at CVS or something? Was going to say I would stock up if that was the case.

It seems if you leave a job and don't take cobra and continue to contribute - you lose the money you have in the account (like if you don't use it by the end of the year).

Ok. Now I got it more. Spoke with someone else and they said since the card was turned off when I left my job I just need to submit a claim form to get reimbursed.

I still think you have till december 31st to claim expenses and get reimbursed for anything your paid in. If you leave your job you dont have the extension to use it up till March 15 of the next year. I think thats the only way you lose it.
