Flat head

Has any bodies baby have a flat head, and opted not to get a helmet? I'm at a loss what to do. My ped said he could wear it up to 6 months. He also said that it may still round out, but there is no gaurentee. I feel bad making him wear the helmet. But I'll feel even worse if he still has a noticeable flat head when he gets bigger. I don't want him to get made fun of for something that could have been possibly fixed. We have an appointment with a specialist next Friday. But my ped pretty much said that he was going to push the helmet on me and I need to make my own decision. Ds is 5 months old. Ugh.

I got the helmet for my daughter and honestly it was worse for me than it was for her! I was embarrassed when we went out - but she had no clue! It was during the winter so I covered it with oversized hats! They said it was gong to be about 6 months - but since we did it early on - when the head is more pliable - she only had to wear it for 3 months! While I was in it - it felt like the longest 3 months - but now she is 6 yrs old - I honestly can say I barely remember that time!

If they recommend it - I would do it sooner rather than later bec then it will be for a shorter time!

My friends child did not get the helmet and they should have. If the ped recommends it then I would do it. Good Luck!

If the ped suggests it, I would do it!! My friends son had one and it wasn't that big of a deal - only 3 months or so

Talk to the specialist first before getting too worried.

My DS wore a helmet for about 3 months, from when he was 6-9 months old. It really was no big deal at all for me. It was much harder for me having to deal with ignorant people when we were out and about.

His head looks great now and I have no regrets.

Does your baby sleep a lot? Dd slept a lot and had a flat head. Doctor told me I had to do more tummy time and I also bought a boppy noggin nest so when she was in her car seat her head wasn't flat. By 7-8mos it rounded out. But I actually took her to a therapist to make sure I didn't need a helmet and so she was monitored.

At the time I didn't see she had a flat head. Looking back at pics I am like omg!

He slept a lot. He also didn't like to be held so much. He liked his playmat. He loathes tummy time. It's impossible to get him to do it now, now that he knows how to roll over. We've been doing jumperoo and excersaucer a lot. We had the noggins nest, but it left a circle indentation on his head where the whole was. Lol. We go to the dr next week for a consultation. I'll get more info. Thanks!

My son wore helmet for 10 weeks. We opted to do on our own because DS head shape bothered me. If you go to a place like cranial tech & get the FREE evaluation & see the pics in 3D you will surely want to do it. Especially if Dr recommends.
