Re: First-time moms: What will you differently the next time around?

I will try to BF again but not freak if it doesn't work out.

I hope to worry a bit less and not stress over every little thing.

I will try to listen to and believe in my own instincts more.

Try a little harder to teach the 2nd one to soothe him/herself to sleep. DD still needs a binky for bed and I would like the 2nd to be less dependent on it.

No rocking to sleep.....laying baby down partially awake from the beginning.

No paci.

Insisting that whoever (DH, me, sitter ect.....) have a consistant nap routine & schedule. DS has sporadic naps at best....sometimes 20 minutes, sometimes 2 hoursChat Icon ....so I never know what I can get done!Chat Icon

No stressing over pumping as often as I did.......I DO NOT need a huge freezer stash! Will pump once at work & at night before bed. Not in the morning before leaving for work like last time.

Nothing...I'd consider myself VERY lucky if baby#2 is anything like DS...he was/is just perfect...except for a picky eater now...

I would not try to work out 3 weeks postpartum with the no pain no gain mentality.

Totally opened my episiotomy up. Yeah, that felt awesomeChat Icon

Next time(if there is one) I will be sitting on ice for 6 weeks.

I could only pray for another baby as easy as DS has been.

Good post!

I would make sure not to listen to everything you read about when you child should be doing something. My kids have been behind schedule on most everything...walking, talking, crawling...and they are now perfectly on time 3 year olds. I stressed so much about trying to get them off the bottle at 12 months it almost drove me insane. They got off it at 15 months when they were ready to.

I will use drop in bottles instead of Dr. Browns. No washing needed!!!

Not be so focused on the developmental guidelines. I'm always waiting for DS to hit the next milestone. I was so upset when he wasn't rolling by the time he was supposed to. Then a few days later he started rolling and now i can't get him to be still.

I also think we may be rocking him to sleep too much still. All the moms on here seem to put their children down when they are tired, not already passed out.
