I am a mother of an almost 11 month old. Being a first time mom can be very overwhelming. There is so much that you never learn about from childbirth classes. I also suffered from postpartum depression so the first couple of months was even more trying for me. Things are wonderful now and my baby boy is such a happy, friendly baby.

I don't claim to be an expert but would like to help other mothers who may be having a difficult time adjusting to this major life change. I want you to know that you are not alone.

I would like to start a new mother support group. We could meet at a restaurant once or twice a month. We would all pay our own way but we would be able to talk with each other, get helpful hints and walk away knowing that motherhood isn't easy but there are people you can turn to who won't judge you. I wouldn't be leading the group, we would all equally participate.

Please let me know if you are interested. If I get a good response I will post some dates and we can pick a date, time and place to meet.

This sounds like a great idea! I too live in Westchester and it can be difficult for me to get to LI but if I can make it, I would definitely attend. My DS is technically a toddler I guess (13 mos) but I would love to get to know other mothers as well!

I would be interested. DD is almost 10 months old. I live in Nassau. My schedule is tight as I work full-time and DH gets home late, and we have a lot of busy weekends, but if something is planned, I will make it if I can.

DD is 13 months- I'm in Suffolk. Would these get togethers be something we bring DC to or not? I'm okay with either, just wondering

There are groups like this already available.
There is one on facebook called New parents meetup group of nassau. I am sure there are suffolk/westchester ones too

Wow, what a great response. I'm also a full time working mom but I'm thinking we could do it on a Thursday night after work sometime. We can always vary the place we meet from month to month as well as the day of the week.

This should be a time we get together without the little ones so it will give us time to talk uninterrupted. No offense to our adorable children.
