I'm still making a cd for my BIL/SIL for their first baby, and I'm loving too many versions of it. Actually, the Johnny Cash version rocks, it's haunting-like. And BIL loves Johnny Cash.
Maybe I'll put 2 versions on the cd

You can hear the whole song on Youtube. Let me know how you like it! I didn't read about it, sounds like he recorded it when he was older.

I thought of you when I had that on my list. DH is a major Marc Cohn fan. I remember you had that in Jack's scrapbook 
What other songs do you have? I need more!! I'll bump my other post for you  Feel free to add!
ETA: You know we still need to have a "name that song" showdown, since we both profess to be "name that song" experts

I was just listening to it. Didn't get to hear the whole thing. (my kids are to loud. LOL) But, I agree it sounds like it could be one of his latest recordings

There is an Irish folk singer Christy Moore who has a great rendition of the song. I couldn't find anything with him singing it though. I'll keep looking.
