First Grandchild
Are you having the first grandchild for both parents or are there others?
Me... My parent's already have 5 grandchildren from my sister and on my in-law's side this will be the first. I know it's exciting for everyone, but it does bother me that my parents don't seem as excited for this one and my in-laws are going insane wanting every sono picture and all. I know my parents are so excited, but I don't feel this child will ever get the attention that my first niece got. Anyone else feel this way?

i wanted to so badly.....but no.
dave's sister has two children already, so no on that side.
my sister in law is pregnant and due in january.
I was very upset (that i wouldn't be giving my parents their first) until I learned about her struggles with fertility and now i'm more excited for them than I am for us... they had a VERY rough go of things - so for them to be where they are is a blessing.

Nope.. my sister had the first grandchild on my side of the family last year.
On DH's side, our  will be either the 7th or 8th grandchild.
I say 7th or 8th because my SIL is pregnant with her 3rd and is due the same time I am.

That's nice and sooo good for them. Jan is around the corner so you'll be an aunt soon.
My sister is the opposite... she's sooo fertile. Hence... 5 kids. Actually 4... 3 with her first and 1 with her 2nd marriage and he has a daughter, but he has no parent's left so my parents treat her like theirs

this will be my mothers 7th grandchild (dad is deceased) and my inlaws first. My inlaws dont know yet bc im only 51/2 weeks along, My dh is the only child. Last time i was preg they were over the moon. I of course was a mess when i mc but i think my inlaws were close to breaking down too.

First for my parents. Dh's parents have 2 grandchildren.
My mom is going absolutely crazy, but DH's parents have been extremely generous as well, and I am sure they will continue to be. The other two grandchildren are 7, so its been awhile since there have been babies around. Its also a little lopsided because my parents live by us and DH's parents are upstate.
I know these kids are going to be totally spoiled by both sets of grandparents.

First for DH's parents, whopping #8 for my Mom (my Dad is deceased).
MIL is very excited, but my Mom has surprised me too in doing a lot of shopping already etc. She is just mad that I won't confirm for her what I am having. You LIF-ers are the only ones who know the truth! (((  )))

First for both sides. Everyone is SUPER excited and can't wait for to get here (well, except my brother, but that's a whole different story for a whole different day & board  ) ...and i'm so happy that everyone wants to be involved and is concerned and excited, but at times they can all be very overwhelming about it. I understand they are thrilled (as DH and I are, of course), but the never-ending advice (my mom passed away 15 years ago, so I guess people think in her absence they need to tell me what to do since she can't)... and the constant need/want for us to come over to visit... and the barrage of questions (if i hear "how do you feel???" ONE more time... )
Dont get me wrong, i appreciate EVERYTHING and everyone has been so generous and loving...and i understand this is a huge deal for them too. I guess i just feel a little guilty now about just wanting to be left alone for a little bit!  but I know it's only going to get worse when he's actually here! I dont know how i'm not going to go batty!

our baby will be the first for my parents but will be my MIL's (FIL deceased) 15th!!! (DH has 7 brothers!) 
I know MIL will be happy for us, but I don't expect her to be crazy excited like my parents will be.

For DH's family-- it will be the first grandchild. To be honest, they are not as involved or act as excited as I thought they would. I rarely get a call from my MIL-- but I guess it's more since I have been pregnant. We get along-- it's just not her way to call a lot and me, well I feel uncomfortable to initiate because of the state of our communication.
My brother and SIL have two kids-- but they live in CO, and my mom is OBSESSED with them. I thought she would be REALLY excited with me being pregnant since I think it's different with your own daughter-- but, she is not as "hover-y" as I thought. We'll see what happens when the kid gets here. But all in all, no one is doing cartwheels around us-- maybe mental ones though.

I feel the same way about my mom... I know she's excited, but not doing "cartwheels" as you said and my IL's are going insane. Just wish my parents were just as excited, but we'll see when the baby gets here.

Ditto, they are all going nuts, esp my parents, i'm an only child, so for some reason it makes it that much of a bigger deal for them...
