first doctor's appointment
Depends on how far along you are, likely a bunch of blood work, weigh-in, urine sample, and probably a transvag sonogram - you'll get to see your little peanut!

Re: first doctor's appointment
I had my first appointment at 8 weeks this past weekend.
I had a full exam including a pap, weigh in, and the ultrasound. He went over some do's and dont's and explained the appointment. schedule for the rest of the pregnancy.
He gave me prescriptions to get my blood work done sometime before the 12 week appointment.

first doctor's appointment
Pretty much everything they do at an annual check up (pap, exam, breast exam) and then give you a bunch of info, take some medical history, internal sonogram, give a prescription for blood work, and discuss other testing you may want (NT Scan, Cystic Fibrosis screening, etc).

Depending on the doc they might try an abdominal u/s instead, but I got transvag up to the 12 week which was my first abdominal.
They will def do an u/s and you will be able to see the HB!

It really is!!!! My doctor let me come in early at 6w3d (I had a history of very early losses and she was really accommodating)... We saw the yolk sac, the baby which looked like a peanut, and we could see the little flicker that was the heartbeat!

first doctor's appointment
We go to the same practice. They don't take a Pap at all during your pregnancy (they didn't for my 1st and I haven't had one so far with this one (15weeks)).
They'll call you back by yourself while SO stays in the waiting room; you'll give them some urine and they'll take your weight. Then you go to the office to speak to the DR privately where they'll ask questions about family history etc. Then they bring you into the u/s room and call SO back. The u/s is internal. You'll get to see the baby (YAY!!); hear the heartbeat and they'll measure to make sure the weeks match the LMP and give you your due date.
After you go back to the office and then she goes over general do's and don'ts (with SO in the room) and answers any questions.
there isn't any bloodwork drawn in the office. You get a scrip for Quest to get your blood drawn. Only thing they'll do is offer the option testing to see if you are a carrier for anything (cost $99). You also get the scrip for the NT scan at the hospital.
The most exciting part is seeing the baby! Everything else is pretty routine. You'll get a folder with some info; who to contact; what to do if you think you're in labor; and different medicines that are safe to take.
Good Luck!!

Yes; the NT scan is done at the Antepartum (sp) office Katz-LIJ. It's the same hospital where you'll deliver but I think the 4th floor. The NT & Anatomy Scan are there; then the growth sono is back in the office.

I needed something in the evening so I wouldn't have to leave work early. I was able to get a 7pm appt right when i was 13w3d. It pushed it to the last minute but luckily we were able to see everything that night I didn't have to worry about going back. I would call as soon as you can to get an appointment especially if you need a particular day/time.
