First Birthday Party help!!!!
We kinda knew we weren't going to be able to have our daughters1st bday at the house being that it's in December and our house would be a little tight for 70+ people. I'm trying to find ideas for where to have this party, I didn't want a sit down restaurant vibe bc I want people to mingle and babies to play. Anyone have any insight? Things you've done or been to with such a large invite list? My DH wants to rent a heated tent with tables outside and still have it home but I still don't think that'll work.
Thanks guys!
Edited to add I'm out east (Lake Grove) but since the guest list is from Jersey to Suffolk I would even go as far as having it in Queens of i had to

First Birthday Party help!!!!
We did it at Nunley's Carousel. Had about 70 people too. I probably would not have an outdoor party in December. I honestly don't think the heated tents really provide enough warmth plus what if there is snow on the ground.

I would say maybe a firehouse/vfw/KOC that has a large dancefloor for the kids to run around. Where are you located? My sister had her DC's 1st bday party at the KoC in Bethpage and it was a huge room.

North babylon FD has an awesome room to rent. If 2nd child is a winter baby we will probably have most events there

I've never had a party at these types of places, do they just provide the room and tables? Do I have to get my own table cloths/tableware? Sorry if it's a stupid question

I agree. My cousin did her daughters 1st birthday party outside with a heated tent in the middle of October last year and almost everyone was complaining about the cold. It's not like it was the middle of winter. I thought it was fine but I love cool air and the fall. My poor cousin... now it's known as the party where everyone was "freezing".

I'm with you- I have 2 winter babies. I did both first birthdays at home. If that isn't an option, I'd go to your local pizzeria/Italian split to check out prices or a KOC/fire department. At most of those places they provide tables and chairs, but you provide EVERYTHING else- this was the ultimate choice for me to do a party at home- I didn't want to drag everything to a place.

I think its different for each place, I looked at a few KoC's where they have a caterer there that they use.

St James community house is great but I do think they now require you use their in house caterers

Stonebridge right off of 347 in Smithtown has a gorgeous room by the bar. We were going to do DS's 1st birthday there but I couldn't make the minimum to get that room.

Re: First Birthday Party help!!!!
My DD's birthday is in January and we had her first birthday at our Town's local recreation center. It was perfect they supplied the tables and chairs and had a full kitchen to use, but we had food catered. I had a clown/magician come and entertain the kiddies.
I'm in Islip Town.
