FIRE ISLAND- HELP

is anyone familiar with Fire Island? I have never been and am looking at the Palms Ocean Beach. Is the location of the hotel good? I want to be walking distance to everything. Are there any other laces to stay that are better?

thank you

Yes, the Palms is the best one over there. That said, its a beachy bare bones place, nothing too fancy but good location.

I haven't been much since the hurricane (and kids) but loved it over there. The hotel looks really nice to me, much nicer than the places I remember! It's right in town so perfect for hitting the restaurants and bars. The beach will be a bit of a hike but you'll be fine.

Probably 5-10 minutes. I'm a wimp so I complain but it's fine.

See I can't fathom spending THAT amount of money on a hotel and not being on the water there.

Re: FIRE ISLAND- HELP

I will tell you this: I usually dress up when I go out to eat or go out and about.

I went to Fire Island to go to dinner with friends, a nice dinner, and go out afterwards... dancing and whatnot.

I wore a summery dress, nice wedges, and a little black jacket.

I WAS WAYYYYYYY over dressed Chat Icon

And to my dismay, 99.7% of establishments do not have AC.

If I could do it all over again, I would wear flip flops and a cotton tube-top or terry cloth like one piece dress or romper. Something very very very cool and breathable. And put the most anti-frizz products in my hair I could find and/or just bun it.

Just so you know. Chat Icon

I ADORE The Palms!

Don't go in expecting The Hamptons or South Beach because you will be disappointed.
It's beachy, laid back, bare bones, but clean and welcoming.
