FIOS Install $$$$$$
Did it cost you to say yes to FIOS? If I heard the guy correct today when he was over my friends house he said the install comes with a fee. I thought I read the install was free....

Re: FIOS Install $$$$$$
Free for basic install. There is a fee if they have to run wires throughout your house. Most of the time, they don't need to run extra wires. My install was easy, since I had DSL before, and I ran my own wires, the installer just swapped my DSL box with the FiOS box.
If your PC doesn't have a wireless connection, you need to get a network wire from the Fios box in the house to your computer. Depending on where the box is, and your computer is, you may need to run wires through the walls to get there. If your computer is wireless, then just put the wireless router near the verizon box, and connect wirelessly.

Re: FIOS Install $$$$$$
The guy told me $29.99. You also get the 2 free gift cards for $50 each. Target and Amex, but only if you buy the deal from the door to door salesman.
I was all set to get it installed on 9/15, until yesterday when I called to change the appointment. I was on hold with 5 different people for more than 20 minutes. By the time I got connected with the right person, after being redirected from 4 other people, I decided to just cancel FIOS altogether. I am staying with Cable. Their customer service is much better.
After I got off the phone with Verizon, I called Cablevision and ordered a DVR box for $9.99 a months more. I was on the phone with a customer service agent within 1 minute and off the phone with them within 5 minutes.
