Finger Painting

When did you start doing this with your DC?

Whats the best approach? I assume there are washable paints, but should I just tape huge pieces of paper to the table and let her go to town?

Re: Finger Painting

She's done it at daycare for a really long time, but we just did this at home last week.

Crayola sells clear gel paints that turn colors when used on the special paper it comes with. It's about $8.99 at Target or Michael's, etc...

She loved it and it was very, very neat.

Lily has been finger painting for quite some time....she uses either a giant sheet of paper on a table with some washable paints, or the Color Wonder paints and paper.Chat Icon

Re: Finger Painting

Charlotte first finger painted at 13 months...I threw down an old blanket & let her go to town with non-toxic, washable paints. She has painted in just a diaper as well as clothes I deemed as "painting clothes".

Have fun!

Same here. We also use the colored washable gels. I give her a piece of paper and she does her own thing.

Re: Finger Painting

we use crayola brand finger paints - been using them since 12 months. They take forever to dry, so if they get on anything, its easy to clean up.

Also the washable markers from Crayola are wonderful!

We started this recently - maybe about 21 months.

DS has a littel tikes "picnic table" that we keep in the house for his coloring, sometimes snacks, and now painting.

We had teh crayola washable finger paints. they were great! have fun!

Same here, though we've only ever used the Color Wonder paints so far.

Re: Finger Painting

we started at like 8 months, we laid out a drop cloth on the kitchen floor with lots of paper on it, put paint on all the paper and let DS go to town. He rolled in it, put his feet in it, rubbed his hand in it. He was COVERED but it was SO much fun!

Re: Finger Painting

There was nothing better growing up than getting one of my daddies shirts as a smock. I still remember this years later. Years!

We started with our first DD around 8 months and our second DD started on her 6 month b-day. I actually use to put the in the tub to do it. Easy to clean up that way!
