Fever virgin over here - advice please!

Ryan (10.5 months) developed his first fever yesterday afternoon. It was 102. After a dose of Tylenol and an hour and half later it was down to 98.9.

I decided to only recheck his temp in the night if he woke up. Which he didn't.

This morning I rechecked at it's at 100.2. I gave another dose of Tylenol and haven't rechecked.

His personality is there. He isn't cranky. Or really whiney. Slightly stuffy as of this morning. But nothing is runny.

My instinct tells me this is teething related. He has 5 teeth already and I believe next to come in are molars which to me would be most painful/uncomfortable.

What do you think? Do I need to call the ped? I normally wouldn't even ask but with that Swine Flu flying around I'm so nervous.

The front 8 should be there b4 he gets his molars Jess.... It may just be that the last 3 of the 8 are coming in at once and that's causing his fever.

I wouldn't even give tylenol under 102 as long as they aren't cranky. The body is fighting something so let it fight, fevers are good. If it goes over 102 call the ped, they may want to see him. Hope he feels better ASAP

Wow, 10 1/2 mo. with no fever...that's great!

Anything over 100.5 I usually give tylenol just to help him be more comfortable plus DS can get high fevers if he truely isnt feeling well. Fevers spike mid-afternoon to night time and than they "cool off" in the morning.
If he is acting normal and eating might just be a bug.

From what I gather, the swine flu is associated with high fevers. I wouldnt worry about that.

I know! I can't believe it myself! But, since this is his first fever it makes me a bit more nervous since it is out of the norm for him.

Thanks for the advice girls. Would appreciate anyone's 2 cents Chat Icon
