I had one with this pregnancy at 23 weeks. It was just like a sono, only you hear the heartbeat so much more and they look specifically at the heart. It took about 30-45 minutes.
I had it because they thought here might be a heart abnormality since a chromosomal abnormality was ruled out after my CVS testing. Everything checked out perfectly.

I had one last week, its just like a regular sono but it was done by a heart specialist. DH had a sibling with a heart condition so they wanted to double check the heart had formed properly and all was fine.

I have to go for one on the 18th. Ds1 was born with a heart murmur that resolved itself but dh's uncle has congenital heart disease so it's just a precaution.
