Feeling Weird
I just called my boss and told him i'm not coming back!!!! His reaction was not what i was expecting..he seemed very OK with it! I had been working for him for 11 years. I told them i could come back the last 2 weeks of August, so i don't have to pay back any medical or maternity leave fees. It sounds like they are going to waive that, so i might just end up going back to clean out my desk. They are going to get back to me on that. But OMG..this feels so weird..i've had a job for as long as i could remember..i really hope and pray i love being a SAHM.. Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated!

Re: Feeling Weird
Congrats! I love being home with dd. It was hard giving up my salary, but so worth it for us. The best advice I can give you is to maintain some type of routine, get dressed everyday (not im formal attire, but don't fall into the sweatpants rut), make sure you allow time for yourself as well. You will not regret this time being home. Some days are incredibly trying, but I can honestly say, i've enjoyed every single day beimg home with dd.

Re: Feeling Weird
I never in a million years thought I'd be a SAHM, but here I am with a 2.5 DD and barefoot and preggo with #2. I may go back in a year or two, but don't regret a thing.
There were times when I felt overwhelmed and lonely, but they passed. I agree with PP and have a routine, make friends with other SAHM's , and if you can, find some part time/freelance work.
I am able to work occasionally, and I do enjoy it, and feel it keeps me in the loop a little bit. I am thrilled that I am home with DD.
Congrats on the newest phase of your life!

Re: Feeling Weird
thank u. I have to admit that i have been out of work for almost 3 months on maternity leave and the days do fly by. So far, i'm not in a funk, but i hope things stay that way! My DS is 4 and even though he drives me CRAZY some days, for the most part i truly enjoy his company and he makes me laugh a lot.

Re: Feeling Weird
I have been a SAHM since Dec. of 2006 and have loved every single moment. Enjoy it!
I'm opposite. Both my kids will be starting school next month (Holy crap, LOL) and I'll be looking for PT work. Going to be very strange getting back out there.

Re: Feeling Weird
I wish i could say those words to my boss. I would love to be a SAHM and raise my DD but I can understand I have been working for a long time too and not to have that part of my life would make me feel weird also. I dont want to go back to work either, But Im happy for you Enjoy it!
