Feeding/sleeping schedule for 5 month olds?

Can you share yours? I am trying really hard to get Derek on more of a schedule and he is definetely sleeping better since I started solids.

This is pretty much our day:

6:30-7:00 - wakes-up (ironically he is not interested in a bottle first thing in the morning but I think that is because he drinks an 6-8 oz. around 2:30 am Chat Icon )
9:30 - usually 1st bottle and falls asleep while drinking. He is drinking anywhere form 6-8 oz. Sleeps 1/2 hour.
10:30 - 1 tbs. oatmeal + 1 tbs. fruit/veggie
11:30 - usually goes down for another nap somewhere around than. If we are in the car he sleeps longer. If we're home, maybe 1/2 hour.
2:00 - bottle and again will fall alseep while eating and nap 1/2 hour.
5:00 - might drink a few oz. and naps for 1/2 hr.
6:30 - 1 tbs. cereal + 1 tbs. fruit/veggie
7:00 - bath
7:30/8:00 - bottle and than goes to sleep for the night and than he wakes anywhere from 1:30-2:30 am for a bottle Chat Icon

Other than oatmeal and rice cereal, we have tried pears, apples and sweet potatoes. I am wondering if I should give him cereal in the afternoon around lunch also?

He is getting better at getting on a schedule of drinking bottles. I am trying to hold him off and put more time between them. He was drinking every 2-3 hours around the clock. Now I have stretched him to 4-5 hours, sometimes he will go a little longer.

He is a cat napper so he takes 3-4 1/2 hr. naps a day.

Re: Feeding/sleeping schedule for 5 month olds?

Logan has been on the same schedule from about 3m-now (6m)

wake 8:15-8:30
fruit/cereal around 9
7oz bottle @ 9:30
10-12:15 nap
12:30 7oz bottle, container of veggies
2:30-4 nap
4:30-4:45ish 7oz bottle
5:45-7:00 nap
8pm veggie/cereal and 5oz or so
bath every other or every 3rd night
11pm dreamfeed 7oz

we've tried cutting that 5:45 nap and just putting him to bed earlier, but it never works. i pick him up from the sitter at 5:35 and have a 35 min drive home - he ALWAYS falls asleep. Truth is that we didn't put him on a schedule, he put US on HIS schedule.

I like the schedule we have - it works for us. It gives us playtime with him when we're home from work and he still gets good sleep in.

I'm a big believer that you should just stick with whatever works for you. Chat Icon

Re: Feeding/sleeping schedule for 5 month olds?

this has been JJ's schedule since about 3 months (just added in the cereal last month)

7-7:30 wakeup & am 7oz bottle
8-9 we usually watch Mickey & play
9:15-10:30 morning nap
10:30 1tbsp oatmeal & 1/4 jar of fruit or veggie along with 7oz bottle
11 or so we either play or run errands
if we run errands, JJ falls asllep in the car & if not
12:30-1:30 nap
1:30 7oz bottle
2-3:30 play
3:45-4:30 nap
4:30 1tbsp oatmeal & 1/4 jar fruit or veggie along with 7oz bottle
5-7:30 he usually sits in his bouncer while I cook dinner & then he gets a tubby...some nights he takes a 15 minute nap while we eat dinner
7:30 last 7oz bottle of the night...usually sleeping by 7:45 or 8 for the night

Re: Feeding/sleeping schedule for 5 month olds?

DD is 5.5 months... she's not really on a schedule during the day. I just kinda go with her flow (read her cues) when i'm home with her and I know MIL does too when i'm at work. I try not to let her stay awake more than 2.5-3 hours at a time.

But she usually does this...

7-7:30 wake up & BF
TV/Play
9:30-11:00 nap (sometimes eat again before nap sometimes not)
11:00 cereal & 6oz bottle-BM or formula
Go for walk/play
1/1:30-3:00 nap (sometimes shorter)
3:00 6oz bottle-BM or formula
play
5:00 BF & short nap
6:30/7 veggie
7-7:30 bath/book
7:30/8 BF & bed
She STTN.
