The New York City Fire Department has turned over information to the FBI on multiple members who were allegedly at the U.S. Capitol when rioters charged the building.
A spokesperson for the FDNY confirmed that a number of its members reportedly identified as being at Wednesday's riot that led to the deaths of four people and a U.S. Capitol Police officer.
"The Department received anonymous allegations that active or retired members were present at the events at the United States Capitol on January 6 and, as required, has provided that information to the FBI," Frank Dwyer, a spokesperson for the FDNY, said.

I’ve said it on another thread. Many did not know they were going to a “riot”. If everyone knew it was a riot how come January 5th all of you weren’t on here lecturing about how wrong anyone who goes to this “riot” is. Because no one knew what was planned, except the crazy extreme right wingers.

Are you really shocked though? POs and FDs, elected officials were all there. Seattle PD was there and they are going to terminate anyone found to be there.
At least 4 busses of people from LI were there!

It was not a protest. It wasn't even a riot. It was a PLANNED and CALCULATED attempt at overthrowing the government and in the process, KILLING government officials such as Pelosi, Pence and others. Each day more and more details are being released as to the magnitude of this, there actions were NOT decided in the moment, it was all planned in advance. There is PROOF that many of these people were let into the Capital, many KNEW where secluded offices were and there were MANY details online about the what was planned.
ANYONE who went there thinking this was a peaceful event to offer Trump "support" had their head in the sand. Trump called for a rebellion and to "take back our country", this was all going to end ONE way. I don't doubt there were a few morons wandering around without a clue but I think they were the minority. This was a planned coup.

Agreed. Many were not part of the storming of the capitol. There were extreme right wingers there and there were many that got caught up in it and followed. MANY stayed back. Just like when cops were getting attacked and buildings / property being burned and stores were being looted this summer. You only see the bad.
I will say, trump jr. definitely got the riled up saying fight like they fight etc... he’s an idiot. Probably changed the mindset for many that were there that would have not done something so stupid.
But I stand my ground. Many went there with no intention to storm the capitol. They were at attending any other MAGA event.

Unless you're talking about a different thread, that's not what you said. You said "personally speaking, I don't think it was planned" and we've already discussed that that is absurd.
But anyway, here's why the above is also incorrect:
I have planned, assisted in planning, and attended many protests over the last few years. These things are organized and executed by groups of like minded people on social media. They are not advertised during commercials on Fox or CNN (for obvious reasons) and people aren't hanging flyers in supermarkets. Social media is where it's at.
There are too many logistics to discuss, even with smaller ones. Where are we meeting? Who is bringing the bullhorn, copies of chants, water to give out, etc.? Do we need a permit?
My point is, these same discussions would also reveal the general plan. People knew what was going on because to even know the protest existed they would have to be privy to the plan.
Now, general concerns did come up on here. I was one of the people thinking it would not amount to anything crazy and I was clearly wrong.
However, my point also works the other way - if you're in the group you know what's going on, but if you're not in the group, you don't. Maybe we don't have any Parler people on here. I don't know. I would hope not.
But it's all coming out now with screenshots and clear evidence of what was discussed and planned. If you knew about the protest, you knew what was happening.
Now, I'm willing to believe that a small minority of people still went thinking they would simply march with signs then dip when it got really bad. But it can't really be a lot because that's just not how this works. You can't reasonably expected to extricate yourself from planned violence. Regardless, they knew what was being planned and people outside their groups of crazy - other than law enforcement - had no way of knowing.

The problem is, there should have never been a MAGA event in the first place. Had Trump accepted the results of the election and participated in the peaceful transition of power this could have all been avoided. But instead, he spent months riling up his base, decrying they need to take back "their" country and subsequently planned, promoted and attended this "event" on Wednesday and gave a speech "calling them all to action". This is why words matter when you are POTUS. He's at fault for everything.
As for Trump Jr, I agree, he's a  moron. Eric too. The stupid apple doesn't fall far from the a$$hole tree.

Yes, the “rally” whatever everyone wants to call it, shouldn’t have even been taking place on that day or in that location. It was stupid.
Trump is at fault, 100% don jr. But many of those who went are not. I guarantee there were also teachers there, doctors, etc... I just don’t see the big deal if those in law enforcement attended and were not involved in the attacks on the capitol and the police there. If they were just attending the rally there is nothing wrong. Waste of time but not wrong. And I say this because of the idiots I know who never in a million years thought what happened would happen. But since 2020 anything can happen and we have to change our way of thinking. Just when you think you have seen the worst in people.....hang on there is more around the corner ??

Just because we didn't get an invite to the party doesn't mean it wasn't planned. It was all over Parler. I'm not on there, and I have no idea how it's set up, so I don't know how many people in there knew about it. I do know that a lot of my Republican friends jumped onto Parler as soon as they heard about it on Facebook a few weeks ago.
Street fairs are planned, but people can still just show up. Most of the people at a street fair know about it, and know what's going on. There are some that just show up and wander around aimlessly, but definitely not the majority.

There were 4 directions for everyone to go. Anyone and everyone that decided to storm the Capitol *should* lose their job. If they turned and went in any direction other than into the Capitol, then no.
Protesting outside is not a crime. Storming the Capitol is.
trump incited a riot and acts of domestic terrorism. It's not that hard to denounce him but not your party.

Any other MAGA event where they erected a freaking GALLOWS with a NOOSE?? Nobody stopped And in their tracks and asked why that was there?? And don't tell me they were caught by surprise because they put that thing up before they stormed the building. NOBODY, NOT ONE SHEEP, said to themselves "huh, that's odd. This is a peaceful event, why would they put that up? Why is everyone around me carrying weapons, wearing civil war 1/6/2021 shirts? And talking about killing congress people" And they didn't stop to rationalize WHY the "others" were BREAKNG INTO A GOVERNMENT BUILDING???? That wasn't cause for them to pause for a moment? Even if they hung back they were condoning that behavior. They should have left. When they saw these people attacking police they knew it was no longer peaceful. But what can you expect when their slogan is wwg1wga - where we go 1 we go all - the very definition of SHEEP mentality.

Anyone caught trespassing in the Capitol and partaking in acts of violence should be punished. The ones that were just part of the protest outside and not inside the building and not committing violence weren't breaking the law. Their cause is incredibly stupid but they have a right to peacefully assemble. Nobody has a right to break into a government building and commit acts of violence and murder.

I'm not on Parler, but I have seen screenshots of posts that would make your skin crawl. This is a place where serial killers and terrorists can mingle and trade tips. It's vile and disgusting the violent acts they promote. Law enforcement should be all over that website. These people are not well.

Since you think LIF is some kind of authority. They are planning violence and who knows what for the inauguration. It’s all over the news and internet. If anyone goes to DC on that day, yes, they are knowingly intending to participate in whatever the idiots do.
I hope nothing happens. This week was a worse case scenario. But just in case it does, you can quote me on saying how wrong it would be to go to DC and participate in any kind of violent rhetoric or actions to overthrow the govt or disrupt the official proceedings.
