Favorite / Recommended Home Related Vendors Thread
Hi all,
I thought this would be a good idea. A thread to share contact information for your favorite or recommended vendors. Try to give an idea of what work they did for you and pricing if possible.
So these could be your favorite electrician, plumber, painter, spackler, landscaper, realtor, mortgage broker, whatever!!
Hopefully it can be a resource that we can all look at first.

I wish I had a larger list.
My FIL paints for us (he's a retired painter) and he does a fantastic job - he can cut a line like no other 
Not pleased with our landscapers and this will be the last season we use them.
However I  our tree care people - Bartlett. They care for our Hemlocks, apple tree and various other bushes on the property (all of which are at least 50 years old).
Our Engineer was fantastic - a little on the Archie Bunker side - but he knows his business. Ron Smith with AAA Engineering (or some such name).
Loved our floor people - Aliperti & Son. They operate like a well-oiled machine. Very professional and they take pride in their work (which seems to be rare these days).
ETA: I've been very happy with General Utilities for oil and service. They are knowledgeable and their prices are competitive. We also use GenSecurity (their sister company) for home security and again, great service and prices.
There really isn't anyone else I've used that I would recomend...

My favorite vendor is my plumber. Campy's Plumbing-Mike

I think he works in Suffolk and Nassau-great guy!
The reason I recommend him is that he will come same day, at 7 at night if he has to. He's the hardest working guy in plumbing! he is also very nice, reasonable pricing and he stays until the job is done. We had an issue where we had a clog so we could not use any water at all. He was going away but made time to come and fix our situation and waited until I got an insurance check to pay him. All around nice guy.

This is a great idea, however my DH is the ultimate DIYer so we don't hire anyone for anything.
I do get the BEST prices from JC discount fuel for oil though.
Oh & I've recommended our countertop guy-Bill Alessi Countertop Express.

Excellent idea. If we get enough people, maybe Ron will sticky it.
I would suggest though, that everyone list the specific reasons why the vendors are being recommended.
I've gotten quite a few empty reccos, with no real thought process or valid information behind it.

Roofing/Windows/Siding: Tom Morse
Tom is great, he is the DH of my DH's coworker. He did my roof and windows and my in-laws siding. He is very fair in pricing and does a great job.

 I used JC Discount fuel.... They left my cap off my oil pipe , water got into my oil burner it broke and they refused to fix it... They said and I quote " maybe your 3 year old son took the cap off... we don't know"  Cheap fuel, BUT horrible service!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, they have been so good to me, even bled my burner once for free when it went out. I've never had a problem, been using them for over a year.

sorry to hear that about JC discount, we usually end up using them too, since they beat competitors by 2 cents.
