False information???
I always thought that the most fertile period was a four day window...three days before ovulation and the day of. But look what I found....is this true?? Anyone know??
"If you're trying to get pregnant, the time you'll be most fertile begins one day prior to the day you ovulate and lasts for three days after you ovulate. Ovulation is the process by which your body releases one or more eggs from your ovary. If the egg is fertilized and successfully implants, you're pregnant. There are several signs that could indicate you're ovulating. Learn to recognize these changes, and you can boost the odds of getting pregnant by having sexual intercourse during this optimal time."
Physical Symptoms of Ovulation The following observable symptoms can indicate ovulation:
Breast tenderness Abdominal cramps or twinges Increased vaginal discharge Change in position and firmness of the cervix (ask your doctor how to detect cervix changes)

Re: False information???
Basically sperm live for 72 hours while the egg will be present for more like 24 hours so if you have sex 3 days before you ovulate the sperm might still be around but if you wait too long after you O then the egg is probably gone. HTH ETS: See below posts...

Basically sperm live for 24-48 hours while the egg will be present for more like 72 hours so if you have sex 3 days before you ovulate the sperm might already expire whereas if you have sex for a couple of days after you O then the egg is probably still hanging around. HTH
Actually, the maximum time sperm can live inside of a woman is usually five days(and sometimes up to seven days), and generally if you have good CM, If you recently had your period or are expecting it, sperm probably won't last more than a day or two.
Once ovulation has occurred, there is only about a 24-hour window in which the egg can be fertilized.
Because the sperm lives longer than the egg, you could conceivably have sex before you ovulate and still get pregant.

Oh my...I guess I am such a dingbat and reversed the times. I am wrong...The EGG is there for 24-48 and the SPERM are 72. DUH....SO sorry, I never want to give wrong info...I just reversed the time frame for each....
