Failed the 1-hour glucose test. (note: this is an old post that got bumped - I passed the three hour)

Ugh, I had a feeling I failed, since I felt a huge blood sugar drop awhile later, and I had had a piece of chocolate cake at work a couple of hours before the test (not knowing I was going to have it). Now I have to take time from work to go for the 3-hour next Wednesday.

For those who did the 3-hour, how did you feel after? I'm thinking I felt lousy after the 1 hour, and I'm better off going home after, and just taking the full day from work. As it is, I will need to take at least half a day.

I failed the 1 hour too but passed the 3. I personally felt fine after the 3 hour (just hungry) and was able to make it to work and make up my hours since I scheduled the test at like 7am.

I didn't feel bad after the 1 hour though so maybe my body wasn't as sensitive to it?

I failed the one hour and passed the 3. I just took the 3 on Monday and while the lab warned me that I might get sick, I didn't. I was just extremely tired. I wound up taking the rest of the day off, went home and slept for a few hours. Good luck!

No real advice here since I failed the 1hr with a high number so I was automatically diagnosed with GD..but wanted to offer you Ive read, and heard that most women pass the 3hr after failing the 1hr. GL

I failed the one hour by 40 points and passed the three hour. Felt nauseated, tired and headachy after the test, so took the rest of the day off and slept/ ate. Good luck!

what do they do for the first Glucose test? I have mine in a week early in the morning. Any suggestions so that I dont blow it right from the start?

I dont plan on having breakfast until after i see the doc

I was starving, but felt pretty ok. The worst part for me about the 3 hour was the blood draws. They had a lot of trouble finding veins and after each draw, the "good" vein they used collapsed. Needless to say, my hands and arms were purple for several days after that.

failed the 1 hr and need to take the 3hr tomorrow.

Do you need to make an appt?

i failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hr. in the waiting room while i was doing the 3 hr i literally fell asleep between hours 2-3..it made me SO tired!! i passed though!!

I failed the 1 hour but, passed the 3 hr. I was told I passed 3 out of the 4 but, watch what I eat and cut down on white carbs and sugars.
I did take the whole day off because I knew I wouldnt be able to go back to work and handle taking care of the kids.
I felt sick and was shaky so it was a good thing. I also got real hot and a headache. I fasted the night before from 8:30 on and had the test at 8 am.

Took a chance and was able to get one wo an appt. The not drinking water is killing me and the waiting. I hope I pass this one
