Facebook Timeline: BE FOREWARNED ABOUT PRIVACY!!!!
So, as you all may know I just got a job at a VERY large law firm.
About a month ago Facebook switched me to Timeline without my permission.
Sucks. (by the way).
Beofre timeline I had my profile locked down. My profile is pretty squuky clean, but I still have stuff on there I dont want everyone looking at.
So I thought that a potential employer WOUDL look on FB, I would actually expect them too.
But I'm smart. I have my profile locked down tight!
Nope. Timeline took away ALL privacy settings for my wall.
I was HORRIFIED and SHOCKED when I went on tonight and saw that EVERYONE could see EVERYTHING on my wall.
ESPECIALLY this brand new, big lawfirm, employer.
So I figured out I have to "Limit audience of past posts". Once I hit that setting, it all went quiet again.
But my new employer (im SURE) saw my whole profile. I got the job, and all is well, but Im PISSED, ANGRY and little sick over this.
CHECK YOUR PRIVACY SETTINGS ON TIMELINE!!!!!!!!

I hate that they change their privacy settings all the time. I rarely use FB, and on the rare occasions that I do, I only put stuff that I assume the whole world will see.

I don't have it either. I hate when smaller companies use it for their “website” and its their only internet presence because I can't access their info then. Its like "they" are trying to force everyone to have facebook

My life doesn't need to be public knowledge. I don't need FB to "talk" to someone. I use a telephone.

Yup. I feel like it's becoming a bit "Big Brother"
Facebook is really starting to freak me out a bit.
It's like some huge cult that the whole world has to participate in.
I wish it would go away...

Facebook isnt a product.... you have to realize that if you are getting something for free.. YOU are most likely the product.
Its the marketing data they are after.. and since you use their service for free they can change what they want... anytime they want. period.
No one is forcing you to use FB...

When your FB switched over to timeline, it gave you 7 days to go through and fix any privacy issues or to "hide" certain info from your timeline before it went "live". I just double checked mine and it's still private for anyone who is not my friend. Before it went live, I went through every month of the last 8 years (joined in 2004) and hid whatever info I didn't want shown.
The public can only see my name, cover photo, that I'm a female, and I'm part of the Delaware network.
I personally love FB.

I personally love FB.
I like it to...its like an online documentation of my thoughts through the years.
It is annoying that you do have to keep an eye on your settings...but as long as you keep on top of it you should be fine.
You do have to remember what is public that you cant change (profile pic obvi and your cover photo). And also keep in mind "friends only" means that if you tag a friend in something then THEIR friends can see it.

I don't have timeline (yet...surprised since I signed up for something using an app that said I would be switced), and I have that privacy setting, and it's checked to limit.
