Eye exam?? Do they get tested?
Are the peds supposed to give an eye exam at any of the well visits? Im guessing not...right? Do you have to request one....
Just curious based on my post about him tripping.. poster said may need glasses...hmmm didn'te ven think that.. although he can spot a plane in the sky when it's a DOT!!!

My ped recommended one at their 6 month check up but since they were preemies they had already been seeing an opthamologist and already had a eye exam scheduled.

My ped never suggested one- yet.
She did have a hearing test at her 1 year old visit...no vision test yet.

i had ian tested at 11 months at a pediatric opthomologist. i dont think my ped does it until they're older. if you think there could be a problem, i would get tested. you never know. just because he can see a plane, does not mean he's not farsighted...like Ian.

well mine did too. Although Lara screamed bloody murder when they tried to put the patch on her so it never happened.

No, the ped just said they were going to do an eye exam. They said it was a fairly new way of doing it, but he held a scanner type instrument up in front of DD a few feet away and had her look at it and it takes a few pictures of the eyes. It only took a few seconds and a few mins later he said her vision was fine.

My ped did it at 15 months...i think they usually do it a little earlier, but they probably forgot-they hold a thing with little red light dots on it a few feet away and it prints out a pic of their eyes for you...anyway it came back with 1 abnormality for my DD and they decided to repeat it at 18 months cuz the test is not 100%(they said like 50/50)..it came back the same so we went to an opthalmologist(which was hell-she had to have her eyes dilated) and he found the same results...but it is just below where they would do anything so i have to go back and do it again when dd is 2...what she has can also self correct so for now they are just monitoring...but I don't notice any problems with her vision at all.

if he can see the plane in the sky it may mean that he is far-sighted he can see objects that are far away but objects that are close to him are blurry. I would get his eyes checked.
