Extention to house - need a survey

...so we are getting an extention (finally). I called to get a couple estimates and two asked if I had surveys done already and that I need to have this done.

So who does this...survey of the property? Who should I call?

Thanks.

You need to call a surveyor. Look in the phone book or google to see who's in your area.

Thanks everyone.

I just got back from Town Hall...I needed to pick up permit applications and find out what this whole process is gona be anyway.

The lady told me she could give me a copy if there is one on file and there was...so I got a copy of the survey for $1.
The surveryor is stamped on it.

If you are adding another bedroom and the total bedrooms becomes five - an office might be considered a bedroom, ours was - you will have to get a health department permit too, I found out Chat Icon which probably will mean you will have to upgrade your septic system. Plus, if you have a well you will have to connect to public water. No one told me about those things when I started planning an extension.
