IRS EXTENSION
You have to file a form for an extension. i believe its a one page form to be done by mail or electronically. see link above.
i believe its until august 15th and you can also file a 2nd extension until october 15th.

It extends the due date of the return until October - there is no 2nd extension anymore. Just fill out the form 4868.
Remember an extension is only an extension on time to file not to make any payments. If you owe any taxes they must be paid by 4/15
