Exercise question

So I have never been an avid exerciser. But as I get bigger I want to keep my stamina up.

You think it's ok to use the elliptical?

I agree. I'd stick to just walking.

Re: Exercise question

I use my elliptical

The doc said its only safe to exercise if you were excercising BEFORE you got pregnant

Its not a good idea to start an exercise regimen when you become pregnant if you havent exercised regularly before

I used to do the elliptical 5 days a week
I do at least 3 and sometimes 4 days a week
You cant let your heartrate go above 145. I have a heartrate watch and an alarm goes off if my heartrate goes too high
Once it gets nice out, DH and I are going to start going on walks around our neighborhood

This will have to do since I don't have a treadmill to walk on at home, only an elliptical.

Re: Exercise question

My doctor actually wanted me to use the elliptical instead of the treadmill because she was worried about the balance on the treadmill and falling off.

Re: Exercise question

I would do a very low impact and don't let your heart rate get up too much. It's good to keep active while you are pregnant just don't overdo it. My doctor told me to exercise by chasing after my daughter and walking. She stressed to not overdo but it's good to stay in some kind of shape. You need stamina for delivery.

Re: Exercise question

I stick to taking the dog for a 1/2 hour to hour walk every day. I think it's better to get outside and breath the fresh air while getting some exercise.
I'm still getting winded easily though.

Re: Exercise question

i would think the elliptical would be good because it is no impact. our joints are already taking a beating from carrying around this extra weight.

Re: Exercise question

I was an avid exerciser, but now I walk. I tried to do the elliptical when all the treadmills were taken and it just made my HR shoot up (on level 1)
So I had to switch to the bike until a mill became available.

In the end, see what you can handle.
