Exercise question
Hi,
Maybe this is a silly question but DH & I want to start a fitness program this week-nothing crazy. Just walking, dancing, maybe treadmill for cardio. And some weight training for toning. Just really want to get into shape. My question is we are starting on Clomid/IUI next month; does anyone know if this type of exercise will still be ok once we start treatments & if we get pregnant?
Thanks.

Re: Exercise question
Do you exercise regularly? If you have been exercising before than regular exercise while monitored should be fine when you are pregnant. I don't think I would be starting something new while undergoing fertility treatments.

Re: Exercise question
Once you have the IUI you do not want your heart rate to go above 140. Nor do you want to do any high impact activity.
This is what I was told...

Re: Exercise question
I was running while going through IF treatments. The only restriction was that I could not run during the 2WW - I was allowed to walk, elliptical machine and weight train.

Re: Exercise question
I worked out before, during and after IUIs and I still work out now that I am PG just toned it down a bit. In fact the RE that did my IUIs for this pregnancy belongs to my gym and saw me on a machine just days after. He did not stop me from training with my trainer. Then again, I wasn't doing too much in the way of intense stuff.

Re: Exercise question
I was told that during the 2 WW, no strenuous exercise or abdominal exercises. They recommended light exercise, such as walking.

Re: Exercise question
Thanks, ladies; I will just walk for now and do some light weights. Then, I'll see what the dr. says next month when we start IUI.

Re: Exercise question
I think that is a great plan. It's always better to err on the side of caution.

Re: Exercise question
I actually started going back to the gym this past cycle. I read a little of that new book, the fertility diet, and they said its very important to exercise. I don't know if the exercise had anything to do with it, but it it was my best cycle on clomid so far.

Re: Exercise question
With Clomid they didn't give me any exercise restrictions. But, when I was on Gonal-F, i was told because of the swelling of the ovaries that it's not good to do bouncing exercises. Could twist the ovaries, though the nurse admitted that that has never happened. So, I slowed down what I was doing. I think everyone is told something different.
